Anyone know which guns did the British India infantry men use during the Burma invasion and is there any shop which repairs such gun i would be very grateful for any info

In matters of administration, weapons, training, and equipment, the Indian Army had considerable independence; for example, prior to the war the Indian Army adopted the Vickers-Berthier (VB) light machine gun instead of the Bren gun of the British Army, while continuing to manufacture and issue the older SMLE No. 1 Mk III rifle during the Second World War, instead of the Lee–Enfield No.4 Mk I issued to the British Army from the middle of the war.

The Lee–Enfield was the standard issue weapon to rifle companies of the British Army and other Commonwealth nations in both the First and Second World Wars (these Commonwealth nations included Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India and South Africa, among others).

During the British Army trials of several light machine guns which began in 1932, the Vickers–Berthier was in direct competition with the Bren light machine gun. The British Army adopted the Bren, and the Vickers–Berthier was adopted by the British Indian Army. A production line for the Vickers–Berthier Light Machine-Gun Mk 3 was established at the Ishapore Rifle Factory.

The Vickers-Berthier was later adopted by the Indian Army because it could be manufactured at once, rather than wait for the British Bren production run to finish;

Normally restoration and repairs on antique artifacts reduces it's value significantly .... be careful.

I can understand your emotional connection... It's a personal choice, but if I would be you.. i would let it be like it is ... and won't get it restored without serious consultation.

Can't help you with that, sorry.

As for firing said gun(s), for experiencing them, perhaps it would be possible to locate a place or person that has (a) functional weapon(s) oif the same kind that you could fire, and meanwhile let the weapon(s) that you have access to from family be assessed first. You can always decide to repare, restore and/or fire later (but you can't 'un-do' a repair or restoration that lowers the value of said pieces!)
