Nawaz to visit Turkey after Ramazan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif is likely to visit Turkey after Ramazan as he has been invited by his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.


The Pakistan’s Prime minister is eagerly awaited by the brotherly people of Turkey. It has been revealed by Turkey’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mustafa Babur Hizlan here the other day in the reception hosted by Romanian Ambassador Ion Emilian for sending off outgoing envoys of three countries.


In a detailed chat with The News, Turkish ambassador said that his country is keen to enhance its political, economic and commercial ties with Pakistan further although they are in excellent shape even now. Pakistan is among the countries which enjoy highest esteem in every section of Turkish society. “We, in Turkey, feel uncomfortable whenever anything untoward takes place in Pakistan,” the Turk envoy said.


Ambassador Mustafa had meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif separately, after they assumed their responsibilities in both the capitals. He is confident that the people of Pakistan would overcome their difficulties under the dynamic leadership of Nawaz Sharif, who is a visionary. To a query, the ambassador expressed his visit about the situation back in his country and said that the law and order has considerably improved and normal activities across Turkey are under way. Interestingly, Turkey provided technical assistance to the Punjab Government in setting up metro bus service in Lahore in record shortest period of time.


It is expected that Turkey would continue to provide similar support to the provincial government when it would be venturing for the second and third extension of the same service in Lahore in a couple of months. Turkey had also offered Pakistan to help in establishing metro bus service in other big cities of Pakistan, including Karachi.


The ambassador said that Turkish Air Force Commander General Mehmet Erten will be visiting Pakistan next week on the invitation of his counterpart from Pakistan—Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafiq Butt. The Turkish air chief will visit the air headquarter besides visiting Pakistan Air Force (PAF) facilities, and he will have discussions with the authorities concerned to enhance the cooperation of two forces. The Turkish air chief will also see exercise of the PAF during his stay in Pakistan.


A number of ambassadors and elite of the twin cities were invited in the reception, hosted by Romanian Ambassador Ion Emilian, who also arranged live folk music of Pakistan for the entertainment of the guests. He said that he is helping in promoting Pakistan’s culture by hosting the music. The guests thoroughly enjoyed the evening.


Hungarian Ambassador Istvan Szabo said that he is going to establish contact with the new administration in Pakistan shortly, and his country is keen to promote business relations with Pakistan. “I am pretty confident that new government in Pakistan is very keen to enhance business ties with the world, including Hungary,” the ambassador added.
