Former mayor of Karachi Naimatullah Khan said on Friday that the Karachiites remained in the grip of bad law and order situation, while the present government like the former ones seemed to be enjoying the sweet fruits of power rather than solving the issues of the city.

He said that the expectations the masses had attached with Nawaz Sharif’s government could not be fulfilled, as the metropolis was still plunged in the quagmire of targeted killings and other crimes.

People were being looted in broad daylight, while the law enforcers were not seen anywhere to come to the rescue of innocent people, he added.

“People are suffering from nine to 12 hours of power load-shedding coupled with water shortage in many areas of the city including New Karachi, Korangi, Nazimabad, Orangi, North Karachi and Surjani Town,” he said adding that the government had claimed to overcome the energy crisis before coming to power but it did not fulfill its commitment as yet.

Naimatullah Khan said that the government and law enforcement agencies should take practical steps to show seriousness to establish peace in the city, adding that the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board and the K-Electric should provide uninterrupted water and power supply so as to lessen the miseries of the people.
