In 1944, with World War Two entering its final stages, the British Air Ministry set out requirements for a new bomber, one that would be able to fly at high speeds and high altitudes.

The ministry planners couldn’t have guessed that the aircraft that would eventually win the tender, the English Electric Canberra, would still be soldiering on more than 70 years later – flying science labs conducting research for Nasa and other US government agencies.

. . . . .
PAF should've stored some of its canberras, they could've been given an upgrade, targeting pod and guided munitions. Would've made one heck of a COIN asset.

.
i heard somewhere that some examples were kept along with f104 which weremade available in kargil war times but as usual noora turned the idea down

.
What is the significance of if NASA is still flying the Canberra/B57?
NASA is an organization/institute which have millions in funds/resources. After all the aircraft suits their tasks well.
Some people/clubs in Europe still maintaining and flying 2nd WW era aircrafts with limited resources. This is something which is significant.

As far I know we do have some pieces in storage.

In Flyable condition?

More better approach would have been Arming No-31 Bomber Wing with Xian-H-6.

note.... these have been highly modified; much newer engines; super large wing spans. Nothing is close to what is available on these legacy planes.

remember, we were flying these right up to late 90s at saaf.

No ,not in hot conditions but just in simple storage.
