NASA may have created a warp drive

good going near relativistic speeds would eventually help us understand our own solar system more easily
sleeper ships that could reach habitable planets with in 100 year time frame could also become reality with in 100 years
lmao i thought it was some ftl drive
any ftl system would be based of alcubierre metric or drive
it is similar to hypothetical warp drive but any spacecraft equipped with an ftl drive based on the above given system would be extremely fcuking dangrous the radiation that the craft would face would most probably kill the astronauts(unless they are gonna build something like real enterprise)
and the most important thing an ftl system based on alcubierrie metric cant be stopped mid way between two points between which it would be travelling (aint it a bitch )
though nasa is experimenting on alcubierre metric
the energy required to build such a thing would be astronomical

I'm not talking about landing the craft into the asteroid, but staying in it's orbit.

And yes, it will consume fuel to catch up to the asteroid, and to decelerate, but that would be less than the fuel required to travel for 4-5 years to reach Jupiter and beyond.

what are you talking about ? If a space craft has accelerated and speeded enough to reach an asteroid, obviously it implies that the craft was flying faster than asteroid ( with sun as reference say ). Why would it want to slow down and gravity locked to it for millions of KMs when the latter context would mean losing a lot of energy by burning energy ?

Also when the co-ordinate comes, it has to accelerate again..making the point moot
