AHMEDABAD/NEW DELHI: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has advised the Sindh province of Pakistan that being a neighbour, Sindh could follow the Gujarat Model for development of infrastructure, drinking water availability and power generation.
He also disclosed that Pakistani businessmen could be invited to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat-2013, an international business-meet as development is the mantra in post-riots Gujarat.
Modi Nu Magic i.e. Modis magic has acquired an international dimension as he hits the road to cover all the 182 Legislative Assembly constituencies for the State election in Nov-Dec, 2012. Development is his mantra as he has extended a friendly hand towards Pakistan, China, Japan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Singapore, etc.
It is noteworthy that Modi is in favour of cordial relations with Pakistan. He wants to help Pakistan out of its power crisis, especially in Sindh. Pakistan can follow the Gujarat Model in two ways Gujarat Solar Park and Kalpasara Project.
Gujarat Solar Park is situated at Charanka village in North Gujarat. The park is spread in 2,000 hectares of arid land with the installed capacity of 690MW and maximum capacity of 968MW. The projects having potential to generate three million units of clean energy per day. It is Asias largest solar park. Today all the 18,000 villages are getting 3 Phase electricity 24x7.
The Kalpasara Project is the dream project of Modi under which a dam is being built across the Gulf of Khambat. It would generate tidal power with installed capacity of 5,880MW.
The water of the river Narmada would not fall in the Arabian Sea, and the water would be collected in a reservoir with the capacity of 16,791 million cubic metre. Apart from this, 35 kilometres long dam across the Gulf of Khambat would be built on which 10 lane highway would be constructed that would connect Saurashtra and South Gujarat.
Sources privy to Modis strategic moves told this correspondent that like China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Bangladesh, etc, Narendra Modi wishes to build up trade relations with Pakistan, and it is possible that Pak businessmen would be invited to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat-2013 a business meet.

Despite strong opposition by the Central government, Modi goes for cordial trade relations with China. In February, 2012 the Central government had directed the Modi government to scrap the Chinese delegations visit to Gujarat, but Modi refused.
In February, 2012, a high level Chinese delegation visited Gujarat. The delegation was led by the Vice Governor of Zhejiang province Chen Jiayuan. The visit had full backing of Chinas top external affairs policy making body International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. Again in May, 2012, another Chinese delegation visited the Sabarmati River Front Project in Gujarat. In June, 2012 a delegation from Gujarat visited Sichuan province of China in the backdrop of Chinas plans to develop 12 large provinces located in the Western and Central regions. Modi wants to explore trade and business opportunities there.
Whatever Pakistan may think about Modi, but he recently stated that procedure to get visas should be relaxed for Pakistanis wanting to visit Ajmer Sharif shrine. He also stated that instead of inviting Foreign Direct Investment, it is better to improve trade ties with Pakistan.
The sources say Pakistan can establish textile units in Gujarat. Further, it should not be forgotten that a business delegation from Pakistan had called upon Modi in November 2011 and had discussed issues pertaining to trade and industry between Gujarat and Pakistan.
