indictment released on Monday, USA Today reported.

Hassanen was killed while walking to a mosque in Fairfax County earlier this year.

The suspect in her murder, Darwin Martinez Torres, also stands accused of raping and sexually assaulting Hassanen with an object, USA Today reported.

“It is my intention to seek the death penalty,” said Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Raymond F. Morrogh, according to The Washington Post.

This is the first time that authorities gave any indication that Hassanen may have been sexually assaulted in the attack.

Up to this point, the case has been centered around discussions on whether the accused should be charged for committing a hate crime or whether he acted in a moment of road rage.

Very little has been said about sexual assault.

Hassanen was reported missing after she and a group of friends had visited a restaurant in Sterling in June, The Washington Post reported. A motorist allegedly confronted them and an altercation ensued. The rest of the group fled for safety at a local mosque, but Hassanen got left behind.

Hassanen’s body was found in a pond, and Torres was arrested as a suspect, the Post reported.

Torres faces accusations of abducting Hassanen with intent to defile and object sexual penetration.

According to USA Today, a court hearing is scheduled for Thursday to set a trial date.

@Solomon2
Time to call a spade a spade.

What do you think of a Muslim girl who was murdered in USA?
@Solomon2, you talk about the rights of Jews and Christians in Muslim countries.

What about the rights of Muslims in Non-Muslim countries?

Time to be honest and do not remain silent. If you are silent on this issue you are dishonest.

The perpetrator was swiftly arrested and put on trial. He will get his punishment after due process. Justice shall be done.

@Iqbal Ali: I found it odd that you were complaining about my supposed lack of writing about Nabra's murder but checking the Forum I discover that all my posts on this subject have been deleted!
No idea why. Perhaps you can ask the mods to restore them.

Thanks for appearing. I am not aware your posts were deleted.
The mods should restore it, if you truly posted on this matter.

It was a hate crime.
Virginia state law defines a hate crime as, “any illegal act directed against any persons or their property because of those persons’ race, religion, or national origin.” Given the accused's history of hair-trigger violence and the eyewitness accounts it is probably impossible to prove such a charge. However, there is plenty of evidence for prosecutors to seek to convict Torres for the more serious charge of murder.

Why is labeling Nadra's death a "hate crime" so important to you?

She has no links with the criminal, there was no incident which triggered this, someone just sits in the car and is about to mow down a female dressed in a specific attire whilst she's on her way to the Mosque. What does that imply? And it didn't just result to a 'scare', she was abducted, raped, beaten and then thrown into the water. Can we stop pretending like there's no reason behind this, there clearly is.

Accounts are that Torres was enraged and chased the entire group. The implication, I suppose, is that Nadra was caught because she was the slowest runner?

Never wrote that there was "no reason". Torres appears to be a nasty person who commits extreme violence against anyone who crosses him.

Again, why is the "hate crime" charge so important to you?

Because it is. Being a hateful person, he was violent with anyone who came across his way? What about his working environment, I'm assuming he didn't get the job by flaring knife at his boss. It was clearly instigated, they were kids dressed a certain way heading mosque. He's not a convicted criminal. This is his first crime without any reason stated except that something triggered him and I'm going with the attire which represented their Faith.

Just because a person is filled with hatred, or is hated by others, does not itself mean a criminal act he committed is a hate crime.

For example, if Torres had been arrested for speeding, his character would not be any different but his criminal offense would not be a hate crime.

It was clearly instigated, they were kids dressed a certain way heading mosque.
Similarly, road rage doesn't equal hate crime.

He's not a convicted criminal.
I don't think his juvenile record has been released yet. In previous violent instances where he was arrested as an adult it appears the victims refused to press charges.

his is his first crime without any reason stated except that something triggered him and I'm going with the attire which represented their Faith.
Do you disagree that your stance is a tunnel-vision view of the evidence? And again, why is the hate crime factor - in your tunnel p.o.v., based on faith and dress - so important to you? The guy is going to get life in prison at the very least.

No. Google the road he was on, how spacious is it? It's not a one way route or a single road with tight space and the statement says he was parked almost mowing into the kids, as though he already loathed them. A person whom is already full of hate just needs another reason to release and this is a hate crime. A hate crime doesn't necessarily require words, to prove its a hate crime. Actions are enough, for e.g. A person may throw pork into a Mosque - has he physically used words? No. Put one and one together and there you'll have your answer.

A man recently was attacked on his way back from the mosque, the criminal never spoke words but attacked him. He was stabbed. This wasn't a case of robbery. It was a hate crime.

It is harder to prove a hate crime in America than it is in United Kingdom. But the fact remains hate crimes have increased in America.

That is a fact.

To claim that this is his first crime triggered by religious attire is incorrect. The teens were walking in the roadway obstructing traffic and had a role in the road rage incident that ensued. Her friends then all ran away, leaving her to defend herself. That is when things went from bad to worse.

Incorrect. They had Suhoor and were heading Mosque around 3/4am there's traffic? It was a deserted road. Talk facts. Living in America doesn't mean you ignore its crimes and don't call them for what they are.

What I have stated above is factually correct, and a matter of public record. Please check for yourself if you so wish.

I've looked into the case, it was a deserted road and the nutter almost drove into the kids and then hit a sidewalk. The boy who was walking with them exchanged a few angry words and then he chased them with a metal
Baseball bat hitting the girl and then dragged her into his car.

Point no.1 - The road was deserted, road rage occurs when there's traffic. There was no traffic at 3/4am.

Point no.2 - The criminal drove towards the kids - was he drunk? No. There are no traces of alcohol found.

Anti- Muslim bias incidents in the United States jumped 57% in 2016 to 2,213, up from 1,409 in 2015, the Council on American-Islamic Relations advocacy group said in a report last month.

One cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that Islamphobia incidents hasn't had a rise. That is simple not true.
