Myanmar jails 153 Chinese illegal loggers for life

this is just as barbaric as Saudi Arabia's law of cutting hands for theft. the real story is they didn't bribe enough ppl. we all know in Myanmar if you get caught for any illegal economic activity it is almost certainly because you didn't pay up.

and if there is a life sentence for logging what of the Myanmar pilots who killed Chinese civilians that are now under investigation? will they be executed?

if not, then we need to start treating Myanmar as an unstable and hostile rogue state.

Well of course Myanmar is hostile to China. They backstabbed us. The only solution is invasion of Yangoon and regime change. Open support for the rebels will be just the beginning.

Seems the size of this illegal logging is quite large...

More than 4,500 tons of timber logs were seized on the logging site and handed over to the ministry in Myitkyina, according to the court. An excavator, three trailers, over 400 trucks, four Mitsubishi four wheel drives, cranes and bicycles were also seized by the military.

These people are small fries.The big fish are well and safe.The rebels and big fish will remain same.The small guy just earning for his family gets the short end.
The sentence is too harsh.Far too much.Even a few weeks will scare the living out of any normal person(assuming burmese jails are anything like their Indian counterparts) and serve as deterrent enough.
