What's new

Muslims that are fasting, please don't cry!

. . .
Every religious practice of Islam is healthy .

1. I wouldn't tread in that territory.

2. Fasting has been around even before Islam, or any other religion, for that matter was even thought of. For e.g. Ancient greeks used to do it voluntarily. Read Hippocrates. Before that we had involuntary fasting when agriculture wasn't developed. Humans have been fasting for thousands of years, voluntarily or involuntarily.

Fasting is amazingly beneficial for health. Latest research suggests it even helps treat cancer and shrink tumors.

If anyone you know is fighting cancer, tell them about fasting. That'll be the greatest gift you could give them. With proper medical advice, of course.

I think Afghans and Pakistanis eat a lot of meat in the region.

Wrong.

Even India is at the very bottom of the list. This 'region' is among the lowest consumers of meat in the world.

 I seriously doubt the accuracy of your source. Pakistanis eat crazy amount of meat. Even the poor people.

I think it's a result of this Hindu-Muslim conflict. You see, Pakistanis knew that Hindus have a big problem with cow slaughter and eating beef, so subconsciously they decided to add meat to all of their foods to piss Hindus off. Don't you agree? :D

Bakwaas na kar Indian. It's not like you are fasting....

I got to say though, that one Indian dish I really like and it is entirely Indian. We don't have it in Pakistan. But Paneer kebab is really good. I only ever had it in US in Indian restaurants.

Indian restaurants over here suck. I cook better at home. In fact I make paneer at home and it turns out better than paneer in India.

Bamboo Fish - Sungat Diya Maas

Well, time for one more Sungat Diya dish. I could not find a better translation for "Sungat Diya" hence the word Bamboo Fish, of course roasted.

Note: The Bamboo must be opened with one stroke cut in about 45 degree angle.

This mouthwatering dish, Paro mangkho is a relish for the non-vegetarians. It keeps our body gorom and is perfect for winters. It tastes best when cooked with jaluk (pepper) or koldil (banana flower).

Polu Or Leta are a popular dish in many parts of upperAssam. They are steamed or boiled silkworm pupae which are seasoned and eaten as a snack. Silkworm pupae are often served with drinks.
