This quotas and reservations, the positive discrimination is all too complex and myriad, my head is spinning with all this travails and pitfalls resulting from this system.
For India this might be the best system hands down, for now to make things works. This is good unless there is an alternative...
in this forum some people keep on bashing Brahman ,even they dont have clear justification for that
it is true that by percent Brahman is 3.5-4 % only ,but holding more than 40 %(conservative figure ,real may be aprrox 60 %) in all key position weather politics ,bureaucracy or media, even for so call dalit and samajwadi political parties having their main political adviser and spokesperson from brahman cast
actual technical reason behind is, in modern India forward cast has to work at least 10 times harder than lower and backward cast ,and it start from his school , it is reality ,to get admission in good collage if forward cast is targeting 95 % minimum other may only targeting 40-45 %,and both will get admission in same medical or engineering collage
if you want to cross check ,you can easily ,take result of any compatative entrance examination
and compare their cut off marks for different category general/OBC/SC/ST

This is huge 63% in many cases, can't help it getting away from it, it is entrenched and intrinsic in the system now, how it can be reversed or improved...as to my understanding with more people getting out of the BPL deserving some quotas, the quota percentile need to be lowered as with the decrease in actual numbers, but seems the population growth rate is more in lower caste people...obvious here.
The positive discrimination, the reservations, the quotas for ST/SC/OBC is fine for some period, shouldn't go for ever, it's a kind of anomaly, something that shouldn't be the standard practice.
It is resulting in further irregularities in the overall standards and system.
It is actually very complex thing...and hence no one want to solve and change this thing in India...need another Ambedkar, the person who initiated it should solve the puzzle.
what reservation is doing ,is making them more weaker and they dont realized that particular group of people keep on working much hard to achieve same target ,which other are easily
best case study is Indonesia, after 1998 riots Chinese face discrimination in public job,
so they put their entire energy is business ,because they have left no option , and today 90% of total business is hold by Chinese in Indonesia directly or indirectly , before 1998 they are in good position and today they are much stronger ,because only for survival they need to work extra hard
it is universal truth those community will work hard , better will be their DNA and next generation
