What do you mean you want to change your major to "aviation"?

Aerospace engineering? Or you are talking about piloting license? Do you want to become a commercial pilot? If yes, the best route would be to go via military aviation and then transfer to commercial airlines after some years of experience.

Otherwise, it's extremely expensive to get a commercial license all by your own self.

Do not use the military as a job agency in that form. Plenty of aspiring pilots joined, and some were in fighter squadrons but realised they must be officers first and pilots second....

I read about an Eagle driver who left USAF as he loved being a fighter pilot but hated being an officer.

I was studying biology cuz my parents wanted me to be a doctor.

But I really wanna be a pilot. I dont think I wanna take the military route.

I was thinking of getting an online aviation degree of some sorts. And either do ATP flight school or get all my licenses and ratings myself part time. Would route be feasible in say 5 years???

Why not go for aviation engineering.

You need to ask yourself you want to be a pilot for fun, or for a living? Two different things, the former requiring some training while the latter, training, and expense.

If you are seriously thinking of being an airline pilot in US, you are in luck. There's a pilot shortage and it's only getting worse. Some airlines are offering to even pay for training and qualification for the right candidates.

I wish you luck on your path to becoming a pilot.

Why a Muslim pilot specifically ?? The aircraft doesn't know your religion....and I said before they are plenty of them. What are your specific questions ??

You can become a pilot while studying at university. It is expensive but would guarantee you a job right away. Look up ERAU Aeronautical Science program.

Yeah Ive heard a lot about embry riddle.
Is it possible to do their 4 year program online and continue flight training at an airfield near my home(I live in Illinois).

Also I heard they give credit if you already have licence and ratings.

My question is will an airline even consider my apps. Since it was united and AA flights that crashed into towers, and I eventually want to make my way to legacy airlines.

Also will I get a lot of BS thrown my way from fellow pilots just for being who I am??

U know just generally what it is like being a muslim and a pilot.

Then why don't you look up Illinois Urbana-Champaign ?? They have a bachelor's degree in flying....

Airlines won't generally give a shit if you're Muslim.

The way you get BS depends on your character. Be yourself and nice to others...don't let anyone ostracize you.

I know enough pilots who are Muslims and a good number fly for US military....they love their professions.
