Muslim Woman Fired From Work For Wearing Hijab In US

have never faced islamaphobia because i don't look "brown" ... i get confused for Italian all the time
Smart guy!

And when they ask your name I assume you say Mateo Pelligrini .

If this is the case then I believe you must be running naked on streets of India?

If you are a girl and an endowed one then I envy your countrymen for they get to see the natural beauty in its real form .................. but if you are a guy then I pity your countrymen who have to bear the torture of looking at you.
learn from Shabana Azmi, Sania Mirza, Taslima Nasreen and many other such women on how to conduct yourself in public places and at work.

But i know u dont understand this...couse you the most superior nation of islam in world...others are just mad according to ur dreams....

Carry on.....

OK, I admitted that she didn't wear Hijab on purpose. But would it be OK for the employer not to employ her at the first place if she were to wear Hijab at the interview, although she had passed the interview perfectly?
No, that would be religious discrimination...I don't see anything wrong with wearing a hijab.

Isn't the job awarded based on employers' discretion ?? If he felt he will have to deal with hijab every day of the job and he doesn't want to do it, he wouldn't have hired her.. as simple as that.

Everyone here asking for freedom, isn't it the freedom of employer whether to choose her for a job or not ?? If it is done as a government policy or if she was denied any government position because of her hijab, then you can start questioning.. but for god's sake, what a dentist want in his office or what a manager wants in her store is upto his/her discretion. By arguing against this and blaming the dentist, you are enforcing your views on him.. not the other way. He asked her to stay neutral... no religion business.. as simple as that.. If religion is so important to her, she is free to drop the job.. if the job is important, she is free to drop the hijab in the office... she has freedom to choose. that is what important.

My last name is pretty anglo Saxon... it has never been confused as Muslim. BTW... a lot of Muslim names are easily westernized because they are based on similar religious background... like Mariam, Danish, even Moses etc.

You don't have the right to refuse employment based on religion or race or s3xual orientation.

It is an employers perspective who he/she wants to hire. It is clear if she had worn the Hijab the employer would have told her at the time of interview itself that he will not allow someone to wear a hijab as his was a religion neutral organization. At that point of time itself the woman would have known

I say it was the woman's fault that she was hiding information from her employer

That's a lot of twisting just to hide your identity! Why not just be recognized for who you are and walk proud?

I agree that there is something fishy with this woman.

But would you say the same thing if employment wS denied to an African American because it would make his clients uncomfortable?

You cannot deny employment based on religion.

It was stated at the end of the article that the employer eulogized her by claiming that she was bringing positive energy but how did that evaporate after she started to wear Hijab? Could it be like she sensed biasness in the add or environment led her not to wear but after the praise she thought of expressing her belief? And that's not the right- winging-political-Hindus do AKA first lie low then attack when time is ripe? BTW, she hasn't attacked or harmed but has worn it for spiritual purpose, so that's not millionth as harmful of conniving Hindutavya walas.

An African American CANNOT change colour of his skin. this woman has a choice NOT to wear a Hijab. She exercised that choice on the interview day and the first 2 days of her employment

If she has a choice to wear the hijab a private employer has the choice not to hire her. Their is no rule which says he has to hire her whatsoever

I dont know how this
epa04681077-an-acehnese-female-police-officer-wear-a-hijab-on-duty-EJMY24.jpg

will in anyway affect her ability to interact with clients
did u read it completely.
Code:
Hijab might look like a simple case which might not warrant any attention but ppl will always relate it to burqa and other stuff.

if hindutva is that dangerous, i bet hindus would be facing much worse repurcussions than this woman... but hey.. they aren't being discriminated as much as muslims.. .are they ?? what does that tell you ?? the world doesn't see hindus through your eyes.

learn from Shabana Azmi, Sania Mirza,
Taslima Nasreen and many other such women on how to conduct yourself in public places and at work.

Shabana Azmi well there is definitely a lesson there, she kept your fathers and forefathers entertained on gib screen but when it came to owning property she was denied .................... may be she should have known her limits.

http://www.thehindu.com/features/magazine/no-muslims-please/article3482963.ece yes there is a lesson to be learnt from her experience.

She said she couldn't buy a house in Mumbai because she was a Muslim. "I wanted to buy a flat in Bombay and it wasn't given to me because I was a Muslim and I read the same about Saif (Ali Khan). Now, I mean, if Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi cannot get a flat in Bombay because they are Muslims, then what are we talking about?"

Sania Mirza yes I agree all Indian women should follow her lead while deciding their to be husbands

Taslima Nasreen she is an atheist what is there to learn from here?

No we are better than most of deluded Indians like you.

Yes.
Workplace should not be the place to practice religion or commit ones spiritual journey.

Tommorrow, hindus will want to come in dhotis, south indians will want lungis, sikhs will want to carry kirpan, hindu gurkhas will want o carry kukri at work place, buddhists will want to wear monks dress. Hindus have so many festivals, if they start demanding holidays on all, will that be fair ?
When others are not carrying their religions to office, why should muslims ?

Work place is a work place, where one is supposed to work, and employer have full rights to create a enviroment which is condusive so as to extract maximum efficiency from the employee, not conducive to religious practices.
