CHICAGO: A Pakistani-American couple has claimed that they were removed from a US-bound flight as an on board crew member felt "uncomfortable" after noticing that they were "sweating", saying "Allah" and texting.

Nazia and Faisal Ali have accused Delta Air Lines of Islamophobia for throwing them off their flight from Paris to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Nazia, 34, had removed her sneakers, finished sending a text message to her parents and was putting on headphones and settling into her seat for the nine-hour flight from Paris to Cincinnati when a Delta Air Lines crew member approached her and husband, Faisal.

A flight crew member had complained to the pilot that she was uncomfortable with the Muslim couple, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The woman was wearing a head scarf and using a phone, and the man was sweating, she allegedly told the pilot.

The flight attendant also claimed that Faisal tried to hide his cell phone and that she had heard the couple use the word 'Allah'.

The pilot contacted the ground crew and would not take off until couple was removed.

"We had been in our seats for 45 minutes," Nazia said on Thursday in the Cincinnati area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

"The ground agent said, 'Can you step out with me? We'd like to ask you a few questions.' So I said, 'Do you want us to get our things?' And he said, 'Yes, please grab all of your personal belongings. You're not going to be on this flight'," Nazia said recounting the July 26 incident.

They were interrogated by a French police officer about their stay in Paris — the couple had been enjoying a brief holiday in the capital city for their 10th wedding anniversary, media reports said.

After the interrogation, the officer said he had no problem with them and there was nothing else he could ask the

In the wake of the couple's removal from the flight, the Muslim advocacy group has filed a religious profiling complaint against Delta Air Lines to the US department of transportation.

"We call on the US department of transportation to conduct a thorough examination into the prevailing practices of major American air carriers, including Delta Air Lines, and to develop policy guidelines on the objective factors that are to be considered when determining that a passenger may legally be removed from a flight," CAIR-Cincinnati attorney Sana Hassan said.

The Delta Airlines, in a statement, said, "Delta condemns discrimination toward our customers in regards to age, race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation or gender."

"As a global airline that brings hundreds of thousands of people together every day, Delta is deeply committed to treating all of our customers with respect. Delta continues its investigation into this matter and will issue a full refund of these customers' airfare," it said.

.
Personally i feel , its wrong and biased approach of airlines officials , this couple can sue the air lines for such be behaviour.
I myself felt such discrimination on Heathrow air port in 2012 and it was really humiliating ...they treat you as per the colour of your skin

. .
The authorities smelled something and as a precaution asked the couple to move out.....they were interrogated and then set free.....it was a standard procedure....
What's wrong in here....

Heck even SRK has been interrogated like a thousand times without even saying Allah
What's all the fuss about

.
SRK must be questioned on how to create 3rd class movies and still generate profits :D they want to get his secret

In US people are not so open and still they have pain of 9-11 ....when they killed Osama i was in Schaumburg a small town in suburbs of Chicago and saw the joy and discussions in office ...... even innocents have to face the perception created by terrorists preaching the same relegion ...

Dafaq ? for sweating and saying "allah" ? this is unadulterated Xenophobia...

Flights generally have ac's, so i dont get it how can one sweat.
Besides what is the need to say "allah".

I have said it in another thread, how difficult it is to sit quietly on a flight, enjoy the view, enjoy the meal, listen to some good music, read some fine magazines.

You have to have special skills inside your body that you successfully manage to detain yourself from the plane while rest of whole plane completes their journey without any issues.

.
tell that to the Pakistani's it will be very hard to convenience them.

. . .
No one thinks of such questions ...buddy they always know who executed it instead of who facilitated it :D ... but people should be sane enough to decide how can their actions will impact their country their faith and their people .... no one is going to judge on their behalf
The question is who helped the terrorists to go world wide also to destroy some countries?.

.
This is not acceptable as of my pointof view.

But still i have a Questions. In Bangladesh recent attack terrorist ask there religion if he not Muslim then they kill those inocent people.

Muslims can kill people on the basis of their religion but someone cannot kick out of a plance coz of their religion?

.
Sweating!? let me get this straight.....Muslims are not allowed to perspire either!? holy mother of ......
