Musharraf vendetta hampers Pakistan

Yeah, but we don't want some weird Islamist extremist country like Iran.

Mustafa bhai, Executing the corrupt politicians and giving the country life is no bad. What Iran did wasn't bad either. Iran is not a extremist state. Their leaders were corrupt, they tortured the average citizens, and they got what they deserved. Same for Pakistan. I mean the most ridiculous actions have been taken by the current government to cope with the problems.

The import of atta!!!!!!!!I mean come on. A country like Pakistan doesn't need to import atta. Its mass produced in our own country. Its like Pakistan importing cement. We are one of the largest producers of cement in the world.

Like I said, the current politicians need a lesson and a warning to the future leaders should be issued. I don't care how stark the warning is. Its about time there is a revolution in Pakistan.:pakistan::pakistan:

it is not so much a case of the politicians being corrupt, as being clueless. I fully agree that politicians should be given a chance to sort this mess out, without the army interfering. However, like all well wishers, we want to see it happen overnight!!! The thing which i have a gripe about is the total lack of any positive action that the Government has taken to alleviate this lull. I think patience is a virtue, but at some stage you have got to grab the bull by the horn(Seems similar to what is happenning to our Bull ;))and get on with the job.
I would however say, this Govtt has been the most unfortunate to have stepped in during this turbulent period. But the worrying thing is not their dedication but their inactivity.

Araz, I find this reasonable. People do want an early end to the mess they see around and you are right: this government has stepped in not at the best of times.

It is up to you guys to know what works best for your country. But military dictatorship is not one of the solutions. Every dictator rule has left the country the worse.

At least in India we have seen that the weakening of the government (coalitions et al) have led to increased confidence in the other civil institutions and segments of the Indian population in general. No one expects the "my bap" sarkaar to do everything for us any more. People have lost the craze for "sarkaari" jobs and respect for "sarkaari afsars". Has it been a good thing? You bet.

Indian economic progress is more or less decoupled with the pathetic governance and that has been a good thing. If they stop tightly controlling the law and order, even that may improve and get decoupled with whoever the idiot is in power. Same is true in most advanced democracies.

So instead of waiting for the good intentioned strongman, what works best and on a sustained basis is strong institutions and checks and balances. Then even the most corrupt ruler can't do as much damage as otherwise.

Thx.

As far as the matter of others joining politics, they should not join until and unless they understand that their abilities will not be underestimated. The barbaric action described in my previous post were a warning for future candidates willing to take control of the country. Pakistan has gone through enough and its about time the people get what they deserve. Its about time we get leaders in every aspect of government that are willing to prioritize the country's issues then their own politics.:pakistan::pakistan::pakistan:

Good words and I am sure good intentions.

Now how about offering a practical way to achieve that!

First there should be an underground organization. This org has to get respect really quickly so we can make these politicians listen to us.

We have to spy on the major political leaders, get to know their schedule and see what they do there. We have to find the actual news behind the headlines in the newspaper and the one on tv. One we know this information we can threaten them by calling them, telling them their schedule and what actually they are doing to the people. Hopefully this will act as a mental and psychological torture. This process should be carried out for a maximum of 5 days, because we don't want these politicians to think much about our schedule and the people spying on them.

Now this is where the org really comes in to play. Call all these major politicians in a news conference or a meeting. The topic of the meeting should not be known by any sort of media agencies. The meeting shouldn't be covered by any sort of media. The topic of the meeting should be something which would attract these corrupt people. Once they leave for the meeting, they should be kidnapped. Tortured. They should be interrogated and asked to told the truth about the loss they have brought to the country. Once they confess, their recordings videos and audios should be released to the public. VICTORY FOR PAKISTAN!!!!!!

They should be executed (I don't suggest this to be telecasted on the news.) They should be buried with some respect. The respect should be given for their confession. :pakistan::pakistan::pakistan:

Thank you for a good post. It is a stark reality that India,s progress has been entirely under a civil leadership. The problem that people sometimes dont understand is the value of accountability. We have right from day one concentrated on individuals, not institutions. You have progressed from individuals to institutions. I am sure and you have also indicated that things do not always go smoothly in India either and you have your share of scanndals and corruption. But as there is accountabillity, there are checks and balances which have resulted in a growth spurt which hads been fairly rapid.
The lack of accountabilty of military dictatorship is the root cause of the rot that sets in every time there has been a ruler from the miltary. i strongly believe that institutions shoul do their designated jobs and refrain from interfering in others task. thiswould stabilize the system , strengthen institutions and allow progress.

Pakistan should have something like the house of Lords in the UK where respected individuals like ex army generals can have their say and veto notions by a lower house.

i think a panel of ExCACs and PMs could be made, but the problem is people dont understand that advice offered only when asked for is valuable. unwanted advice loses value pretty rapidly. This would just turn into a farce with everyone trying to out shine the Government
