In a significant reshuffle in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the appointment of ambassador Munir Akram as Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, the Foreign Office announced on Monday.

Akram will replace Dr Maleeha Lodhi, who has held the office of Pakistan's envoy to the UN since February 2015.

Akram has previously served as Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN as well, holding the office for six years between 2002 and 2008.

. . . .
I liked Maleeha Lodhi, I wonder what is the reason behind this move. Has she been fired or readjusted somewhere else?

Also it gave a good image of Pakistan to be represented by an educated, well-spoken woman, when much of western world think of Pakistan has having all our women burqa clad and restricted to their homes.

.
Maleeha lodhi is like a leech. She always manages to secure the most covered diplomatic posts in the west. she has spent most of the past two decades in the US and UK. Look for her to find a fat new assignment somewhere in wester Europe. Woman is mediocre at best.
Post her some where in Africa and see how quickly she will resign.

It has been an honour to serve the country & am grateful for the opportunity to do so for over four years. Representing Pakistan at the world’s most important multilateral forum was a great privilege. I had planned to move on after UNGA following a successful visit by the PM -1

I am humbled by the appreciation I have received for the PM’s visit and the support I have also received over the years. I wish my successor Munir Akram the best of luck!-2

.
Thank you to her services, she was blessed to hold such a role time to give fresh blood chance
Good or bad , thank you

We need to come out of appologist mode and take GanguFascism head on.

MunirAkram understands the overall Geopolitical Landscape of the Eursian Dynamcis... would help us to coordinate with China and Russia much more effectively.

Now the FO also needs some T-levels boosters...

Our strategy of Containment of GanguFacism needs to become even more agressive... PMIK has opened the game and now it is upto StateFunctionaries to take it forward on all Diplomatic avenues.

Absolutely we need to fight on diplomatic front and make up for 15 years of shoddy diplomacy that gave Pakistan nothing but problems.

Imo, our entire Foreign office needs a massive massive massive purge. These Har*** /good for nothing/incompetent/pacifist bureaucrats are only interested in enjoying perks and privilages and don't give a f**k about country.

I have watched some debates or discussions between Pakistani and afghan diplomats. (anyone interested can search YouTube). My God how embarrassed I was at the incompetence of our foreign office personnel. Our people don't know how to talk without apologizing. No fire or desire to fight back, utterly lacking any pride in your nation. Someone needs to give them lessons on verbal combat. They need to improve greatly. They are our first line of defense, much neglected and frowned upon but still a vital component of our state craft
