Multi-role combat aircraft not fit for BrahMos

Third class journalism. MMRCA never meant to carry Brahmos. We will have MKI for Brahmos and MMRCA will get its own long range cruise missile.

The AEGIS and the RIM-162 ESSM could stop it but India will only care if her neighbors have it and both of them don't and will never get it as a export.

Can ESSM stop a stealthy Mach 2.8 cruise missile??!!!! Where did you get that? Pls give the source it will be a new one for me.

MKI can be modified to carry upto 3 Brahmos. so why bother other ones? :cheesy:

Wow man...
how can ESSm stop a stealthy 3mach cruse missile which gets into sea skimming mode at 10meters above sea and hit the target with 3mach...
and also On setember 5 2010 BrahMos create a record for the first supersonic steep dive..

i want to know it..
can u please give me source:what:

here the brahmos created the World record of STEEP-DIVE with SUpersonic speeds..now how can u counter a cruze missile which is gonna hit the ship vertically with mach 3..:what::what:

On September 5, 2010, Defence scientists test fired BrahMos off the orissa coast and created a world record. It was for the first time that a cruise missile was tested at supersonic speeds in a steep-dive mode. The missile was test-fired from the integrated test rang launching complex-3 (LC-3) at Chandipur around 11.35 am. With this launch, The army's requirement for land attacks with block-II advanced seeker software with target discriminating capabilities has been fully met. BrahMos is the only supersonic cruise missile possessing advanced capability of selection of a particular land target amongst a group of targets, providing an edge to the user with precise hit

You are correct, but you have overlooked some facts. The USA's terrorist enemies are far away. Iraq, Pakistan,....so hence they need really long range cruise missiles for precision targetting. India's terror enemies are just close by, next door...Pakistan. hence, for India, brahmos is really handy. They are developing nirbhay which is in the same class of tomahawk to target military installation deep inside china

off coarse a medium class fighter can't carry a 2500 kg cruise missile. it is a common sense.

3rd class (assuming that's the lowest) class of journalism meant to grab eyeballs. I seriously wish the media appoints dedicated journalists with basic know how for defence news and not the usual riff raff.

i think a ship with a much small area than an an airport is definitely more easy to protect

You are wrong , a ship can be easily hit as there are no side targets there unlike an airport different assets can be placed at different sites which make target hit very much difficult. More over land targets are hit by ballistic missiles that is difficult to intercept where as there are fire and forget cruise missiles that hit ships. So BMD is not used on a ship , as a cruise missile coming at mach 2 speed is like an aeroplane so SAM's can take care of it . In that way u might be correct but if same cruise missile targets ship and land, it will be difficult for that missile to hit the land target rather than ship.

US offered AEGIS to our navy and can RIM-162 ESSM stop our brahmos?
If your answer is yes then replace Brahmos with Brahmos II in my question.

If a light weight fighter like jf-17 can carry a cruise missile of 1500 kg then why not a medium weight aircraft can carry 2500 kg of cruise missile . after looking at the fact that the two qualified contenders for MRCA are EF-2000 and Rafale and both are much heavier than jf-17 and have much heavy payloads capacity when compared with jf-17 , not only that but also both Rafale and Ef-2000 are powered by twin and more powerful engines when compared to single engine of jf-17 .

Weight is not the issue may be Russia don't want india to give the codes of Brahmos to europeans because for missile to be carried by an aircraft integration is needed and for that integration there are certain codes by the manufacturers. No doubt that india is a partner to that project but certain things are necessary to be hidden , like Russia didn't allowed IAF to use MKI radars during exercise with USAF though a bit different case but for the sake of understanding

So you say heavy weight aircraft Su30 should carry extended range version of Brahmos with more weight?
Dont worry India is developing supersonic 1000km range cruise missile.
We dont have a need to modify MRCA to be Brahmos capable , we have 40 Mki's to finish the job each with 1-3 Brahmos.
The primary aim of Mki to carry Brahmos is to give Brahmos more range.
The primary aim of MRCA is to strike the targets deep inside the border, no need for us to have Brahmos, the MRCA will be selected such that it can penetrate air defence and strike tactical targets while having air supermacy. Hence multi role.

When the MRCA manufacturer is giving license and source code to us , why will we ask them to integrate. We and Russians can manage it.
Hey Russia didnt stop us , we only switched off radar so that illegally jammers cannot be made against it.
Dont worry soon we will have aesa in mki's so that we can switch it on.

it was the IAF's decision to not use MKI's radar and had nothing to do with Russia. IAF has complete control over ALL their planes and their uses- Russia is not the US who sells fighters brimming with snooping bugs and kill switches and manuals on how and when to use the fighters. One of the reasons both US fighters were eliminated in MMRCA- autnomity of fighters is a key IAF requirement which other AFs have sold out on.

If a light weight fighter like jf-17 can carry a cruise missile of 1500 kg then why not a medium weight aircraft can carry 2500 kg of cruise missile .

Because it has nothing to do with the fighter size and weight, but with the size and weight limit of the hardpoint! The Eurofighter for example hs a payload of 7.5t, but the centerline station lies directly between the gear bays and that limits the size of loads that the fighter can carry at this station. While 1000l fuel tanks can be carried there, the cruise missiles it will integrate in future are too big and can be carried only at the wingstations:

So the diameter of Brahmos alone would be a reason why the Eurofighter can't use it, but same can be said about the lenght and maybe even the weight, while the latter is the reason why it can't be carried on the wingstations. Also keep in mind that even the MKI needs changes in the airframe and hardpoint structure to carry such a heavy weapon, which makes it difficult of course to find a platform. The next version of Brahmos is said to be lighter and smaller, to make MKI able to carry up to 3 of them. This version, which is already under development, will be available for Pak Fa / FGFA as well (externally) and could then be integrated into MMRCAs as well, if needed.
However, it is more likely that IAF wants to procure the winning MMRCA with Storm Shadow / Scalp cruise missile, as an alternative to Brahmos.
