KARACHI: As India has made a visibly marked effort to mourn with Pakistan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the attack in Peshawar in no uncertain terms, former military ruler Pervez Musharraf has in an interview blamed Pakistan’s eastern neighbour and the former Afghan government of Hamid Karzai for the carnage.

In an interview with CNN-IBN, Musharraf, who himself was once a strong proponent of peace with India despite his prior role in the Kargil debacle, said in response to a question: "Do you know who is Maulana Fazlullah? He is the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan commander. He is in Afghanistan. And I am reasonably sure that he was supported by former Karzai government and RAW to carry out terror attacks in Pakistan."

The former president’s comments come as the nation is mourning the deaths of school children and other victims of the Taliban massacre and discussions are underway urging action along with introspection.

Musharraf accused Afghanistan of sheltering Fazlullah, saying the chief of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was “supported by the government of Hamid Karzai”.

He added that Fazlullah was “being supported by RAW to carry out these attacks in Pakistan”.

The question is what have we done about it? The answer is absolutely nothing. Every time an operation was launched, these rats escaped to Afghanistan and we despite being a so called nuclear power could do nothing about it.

Being a nuclear power has no meaning whatsoever in counter insurgency operations! :P Terrorists care a damn whether you have nukes or not because they can never be used. They're just showpieces.

And motor-mouth Mush has started talking a lot these days, trying his darnedest to stay relevant.

@Junaid B
About Maulana Fazlullah,he was known as Cleric FM or Mullah Radio who use to run a FM channel & parrallel judicary in his native Swat. When the Pakistan military launched a military offensive against Fazlullah,he escaped to Afghanistan. Are indians responsible for this. Now it is convenient for Mushraff to blame India & come out with firvolous & falllacious allegations. It was the same Mushraff who denied the presence of Osama Bin laden in Pakistan

It is well known Karzai worked as indian tool.

How can you slander someone while sitting on your armchair at home? You and former head of state Karzai are nowhere in the same league, so how is it that you have all the answers that the diplomatic community isn't aware of? If anything, Karzai was an American puppet, India has no say in the affairs of Afghanistan then or now, that's some sort of Pakistani rumor I keep reading on this forum.

Question to Musharraf; and what exactly did you do? Fazlullah was arrested by Pakistani police when you were the COAS, what did you do? Release him?

Nuclear powers dont react the way Pakistan does either. Period!
