...the current corona crisis has clearly shown that China is far ahead of US in effectively managing any kind of emergency situation.

Like I have often said: The government that is swift to do good WILL also be swift to do evil.

So yes, for now, the Chinese government is enjoying the perception of being capable and competent. The key word here is 'perception'.

On this forum, the Chinese members knows their government royally fooked up in the early stages of the crisis, so now they are working overtime to change that perception and to redirect attention towards the errors that other countries made in their attempts to control the crisis in their respective countries. When you have unchecked institutional powers, you can do anything and no matter how ham-fisted you are, what choice do people have but to obey? The Chinese government do not have any kind of restraint, so yes, China is clearly far ahead of US in that regard.

That's my suspicion for years.

Not just this, but also in many charts that put Western countries at the top of many categories of education, economy, healthcare, etc.

The world today is already very different.

Maybe 30 years ago, whatever you put Western countries at the top of the chart, not only people are going to believe it, but that's the reality.

Since 2000 onward, many countries are not just on par, but even surpassing many Western countries.

A person thinks he is ugly, so he tried and tried so hard... and think he gained nothing or just a little... but without he realized, he actually already surpassing everyone by huge margin.
