It looks like the MS Dhoni-fever has overtaken the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well. The legendary Indian wicketkeeper-batsman is closing in on making a much-anticipated return to competitive cricket in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While the IPL fans just can't wait to revel in Dhoni's return, similar waves have been created across the border as a fan of the Islamabad United was seen donning a Pakistani national jersey with MSD's credentials in a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match.

Similar to the biggest domestic extravaganza that takes place in India, the PSL is also a 20-over tournament which serves local Pakistani players a platform to compete with overseas household names under one roof. The fifth edition of the PSL is already underway and it is the first time when the entire tournament will be played on Pakistani soil. On the 22nd matchday of the PSL, an Islamabad United grabbed attention with his customised Pakistani national team jersey.

The PSL fan is believed to have arrived at the match venue wearing the Pakistani cricket team jersey having Dhoni's name and number on the back. The Green Army jersey with Dhoni's name and number soon grabbed everyone's attention on social media. "Bhai in Stadium! Stadium was overcrowded. Full support for @IsbUnited Missing @Msdhoni @PSL," the Dhoni fan tweeted.

The same Pakistani fan had earlier made headlines with his custom jersey ahead of the 2019 ICC World Cup. Shehzad-Ul-Hassan, who goes by the username @shehzad441 on Twitter had assembled a custom made Pakistani jersey with Dhoni's name and jersey engraved on the back of it.

For the Indian fans, the wait to see Thala taking the field with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will end on March 29. Dhoni will lead CSK in the 13th season of the IPL and the season opener between the Chennai heavyweights and defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium will be his first competitive game after the 2019 World Cup.

One would have been lynched to death and called an #antinational, #gaddar, #sickular, #foreign lobby, #lutian and what not had he donned the name of Afridi during a IPL match! Speaks words about the culture of tolerance in our motherland vis a vis Gangudesh!

You know that how much love Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar get when they come to India. They have told that in Pakistani media about how much love and respect they get here. Anyways, making nonsensical comments with rude words and name-calling seems to be the norm here.

Lol, you guys pelted stones at your women who were doing a march because you didnt like their opinion. Your shady blasphemy law is one example of your intolerance.

Come on, dont be unreasonable or else stop complaining why we put all Gangus in the same basket!

Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar are stars. Ask Urmila Matondkar, Naseeruddin Shah, Pooja Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin, Shatrughan Sinha, Sunny Deol, Gippy Grewal, Om Puri, Shashi Kapoor and countless others who visited Pakistan, how much respect and love they got here!

Here i am talking about how a common Indian (non-Gangu) would be treated in India if he dons the name of a Pakistani player during IPL. He would probably be lynched in the stadium itself!

It is a small extremist section who did it. And we dont shamelessly defend them and dont make such extremists our PM and CM. Even they, atleast didnt rape them!

Haha, it was your intolerance that turned a mutual respect for cricket stars into an imaginary lynching game. You cant even speak a sentence without feeling the need to insult. Shows the kind of mindset and toxicity you live in.

And about how you dont defend the shameless behaviour, just go and check the current trending threads and you will know the reality about your intolerance towards your own women. Haha, so everything is fine until you rape them. I feel sad for the type of environment you grew up to think this is acceptable.

Wont reply further, its evident that you are a misguided person. Even the guy who commented after you called him an idiot and you teaching me tolerance.

Sadly, some of what you said would have been true. Even if the said person wouldn't have been lynched, he would have been called "anti-national", "Khan Market gang member" etc and would have been heckled out of the stadium. A further possibility would have been a police FIR being against him.

@BL33D, what I wrote would be true. Look at the recent case of that Karnataka girl, Amulya Leona Noronha.

Maybe for some other pakistani personalities, but many cricketers enjoy huge respect still in India like Akhtar and Akram. But if you say Afridi, who uses his fan following to speak against India for political reasons, surely he would be booed away. It totally depends on the character of the person we speaking, would you agree ?

Oh come on, Gangus are the last people teaching us reason! You lurking here on our forums and allowed to share your views freely is enough reason for us to believe otherwise! No one wins elections here by Hindu-Bashing or India Bashing. I hope you dont want me to go further from here!

Can those two come to India now ?? :)

According to new forum rules, an offensive word like "Gangu" cannot be used.

no indian is hero in Pakistan simple is that.

I didn't know that Gangu Teli's was such a sad story.

But Gangu Teli doesn't seem to have anything to do with some Pakistani members calling the Indian ones as "Gangu". This word is used expressly to differentiate the Pakistanis ( supposedly all connected to the Indus Civilization ) to the Indians ( supposedly all connected to the Ganga river settlements ) and this is completely wrong.

I live in the Deccan region whose major part lies down south. My history includes Tipu Sultan who was an Internationalist even in those times. He would not have cared for any fixed notions of nationality, whether Indus or whether Ganga.

Tipu Sultan was one of the greatest men in the history of subcontinent! Utmost respect!
