I think the title is misleading, since the statements of the MQM leadership outines that it will not abandon weapons unless all parties agree to do so.
Considering the collusion between Land Mafia and ANP.. and the MQM having its own.. this situation will not end until both parties are acted against.. an action that will invoke ethnic violence from the ANP who will first play the "mohajir" card(which the MQM will use for more violence) and then the anti Punjab card in an effort to avoid being accountable.
I, for one am totally in favor of de-weaponization of the entire country.
How do you propose that it should happen? Since gun culture is now embedded in Pakistani society.
Sir jee - De-weaponization of Karachi = De-weaponizing EVERYONE not just MQM.
If these political parties call themselves "democratic" then they need to relinquish, armed militant wings.

There should be no weapons anywhere. But right now, the problem is Karachi. Nowhere in the country, more than dozen people die everyday due to gun violence.
So the immediate problem in de-weaponisation of Karachi. That means taking away weapons from MQM, ANP and other thugs.
It will not work. MQM's strength is its policy of intimidation. Have you noticed the first one to go against such operation and give it ethnic tinge is none other that Altaf Hussain? The reason is simple. MQM's hold of Karachi is through tactics of a violent mafia. They have organised armed cadres. They will never give away their strength.
That is why targeted operation of Naseerullah Babar type is a must. But this time operation must not be stopped. Otherwise like before, we will come back to same situation. Everyone knows who the terrorists are. Its not difficult to eliminate them.
There are thousands of illegal arms factories in Pakistan .. This should start from KPK , punjab , sindh & Baluchistan. Only disarming karachietes will leave the entire city badly exposed to talibans and extremists
ANP would instigate an ethnic violence against mohajirs? huh. Are you from karachi by any chance?I think the title is misleading, since the statements of the MQM leadership outines that it will not abandon weapons unless all parties agree to do so.

In my opinion first of all KPK, FATA and Pashtun areas of Balochistan should be de-weaponized. Every Pashtun household in Pakistan has guns, it is our zewar, but it was for english and other invaders and now is 21st century, so i am in favour of de-weaponization of entire pashtun belt........pathan se bandooq cheeno aur qalam pakrrao.....
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) has adopted the resolution with majority asking the government to deweaponise whole country.
The resolution was tabled in NA by MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar.
However, ANP, PML-N and JUI-F opposed the resolution.
The resolution said that the peace in country is facing threat from the weapons. The government has to take stern measures to deweaponise the country, it added.
