MQM female MPA announces resignation after Altaf Hussain speech

KARACHI: Irum Azeem Farooque, a female member of Sindh Assembly belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), announced her resignation following Altaf Hussain’s speech that led to attacks on media offices in Karachi.

In a statement on Twitter, Irum said she felt embarrassed to watch the videos of MQM workers ransacking ARY News office and clashing with police.

“Today I resign. Already did it two days ago but didn’t disclose Bec (because) of the Hunger strike. After watching the videos, I feel very embarrassed,” she wrote on Twitter.

“#Pakistan Zindabad. I condemn those who call it Murdabad,” she added.


“Party workers must refrain from taking law in their hands. This is not a solution. Please No Violence,”


“I m shocked and utterly disappointed. Condemn the Attack on @ARYNEWSOFFICIAL offices. No one should take law In their hands,” she tweeted.

In May 2016, MQM’s coordination Committee had suspended membership of Irum for three months for ‘violating the organizational rules’.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain also endorsed the decision of the coordination committee.

Reacting on the decision, Irum said that she was suspended because of her peaceful message to the political workers.

“London RC (Rabita Committee) suspended me bec (because) of My Peaceful Msg2 (message to) workers from both sides. Altaf Bhai was taken on board after they already made up their mind,” she wrote on her Twitter account.

The Military would be quite Lenient if they did not froze all assets for All Members of MQM for at least 90 days till investigation concluded on MQM uppper management

The people should have to submit

a) An application for forgiveness from State (Military really)
b) Resignation letter from MQM - and agree to not support MQM gangs
c) Admittance of None Leadership status Altaf and his rant
d) Apology from People of Karachi & Pakistan for failing to respect Pakistan's Idealogy

Also it would be helpful they sign and give letter stating "They do not agreee with views of Altaf

• Singing of National Anthem in front of camera (3 Times) - only after that 3rd time the Judge should let them leave for home (With stern warning)

After 90's days the ban on financial asset would be lifted
Freezing of Assets for 90's days is a Just punishment (even for the folks who are now trying to leave party)

• Just in case new evidence emerges of contact of any of these people with RAW for next 90 days

I would have certainly frozen assets so they would have to beg other Pakistanis for forgiveness and help for next 90 days

• Army should give these folks a letter indicating for 90 Days - you are part of investigation of RAW connections & Anti Pakistan Activity , if any new evidence emerges of your involvement you will be re-arrested.

• For 90 days they should be asked to call in special Military Number - to confirm they are still in Pakistan every morning and register their presence
