Steven Spielberg’s first installment of the Indiana Jones franchise is a masterpiece, except for one error. When Indy is nursing a drink after thinking he’s just lost the love of his life, a man in jeans and a T-shirt walks by. Locals in Cairo, Egypt in the 1930s did not dress this way. Luckily, the scene is so powerful that most people will never notice this terrible costume mistake.

elaborate please.
there was a lot happening in this movie and I dont know what part you are referring to
by the way dont be put off by people who who will try to silence you by saying its a fantasy movie and all that.
it is one of my old time favorites and never gets old for me. I am interested what you got to say.

should we make a movie section thread where we give our reviews and raise points and explanations ?

I have included a video from Big Bang Theory TV series which gives the flaw.

Basically Indian Jones plays no major role in the overall outcome of the story. With or without him the nazis find the ark, take it to the island , open it and die.

I get it. and I agree with you that he had no role in Nazis deaths
Nazis died because they were not worthy of opening the Arc or maybe no one was and Indiana didnt do anything about it but still that in my opinion is not a flaw

I do disagree about Nazis finding the Ark without his help. he had the medallion and he used it to trace the whereabouts of the arc
latest

he did play very important role throughout the story. he solved the puzzles and extracted the ark right under their nose. agreed they snatched it off him but he was the one who found it and also brought it back to be stored away from the world forever by "top men"

I will check the big bang video and come back on that too.

@Soumitra

I saw the big banng video and saw the argument by the geek girl. I disagree with her. the Gashtapu failed to get the medallion from the girl. that was the key to the Ark .. it was Indy who got hold of it . used it and extracted the ark.
yes Nazis were meticulous and very excavating the entire place and might have found it but its a would have could have should have argument.

what is debatable is the dialogue between the German professor and Indy at the end of the movie where Indy is about to blow up the ark with an RPG and the German implores him to join him and find out what the Ark holds by touching his archaeologist curiosity. the Germans might have just executed him or being a persistent pest but they didnt. (again could have should have would have). then again he would have just hid back and let them die and then picked up the ark but that would've been out of his character.

another (disappointing) bit is that the American authorities were not willing to tell him what they did with the ark. he was just hushed up

my 2 cents

I am not a big fan of the movie. I watched it once years ago so don't remember all the details. But the BBT video also addresses the medalion part.

Anyways I had put the post in stupid and funny thread as I found it funny

I get that, (the clip is funny)
but you gave me an excuse to make a operate thread over it as I like to discuss stories and plots in modern and classic fiction in all fiction genres

in the end its all about personal preferences. I enjoyed this movie as a kid. its a pure popcorn relax movie.

past that.. there are some famous movies that I am no big fan and the entire God Father trilogy is one of them I was almost lynched once for uttering that blasphemy :)

What about matrix?

Leave aside the sci-fi stuff. I think it depicts how our govt controls us

But you are correct in not being a fan of that series.

That series glorifies and glamorizes mob violence and mob families.

true that about Matrix
even why apologies for being fascinated by science fiction. it only adds to the story. its awesome. first was awesome later ones were ok but the last dialogue between agent smith and Neo is super.
the whole thing about control and relative reality is intriguing also making you wonder (as I picked it up from a discussion on a youtube channel ) what if Neo "woke up" into yet another Matrix (see how he willed the hunter killers down by show of hands for example and also his lack of powers in the subway). meaning there maybe layered control of control like the onion skins.
everything is being centralized "cloud based" all our life and livelihood will be centralized and watch this space as it will eventually become illegal to have private storage devices (hard disk , IC , USB etc) which govt or corporations cant control brings me to the discussion of

enemy of the state ... yet another repeated and well tested formula film (but beautifully executed )about controlling agencies this time NSA

how easily and quickly your life can be turned upside down.

But you are correct in not being a fan of that series.

I dont have issue with the subject matter.
A boy made a miraculous escape from a murderous thuggish Sicily and worked his way to power and riches and became just one like that who he escaped from.

acting and plot and story telling is great but its not divine. people get too carried away maybe inside I am fed up with this (tony supronao ) "Ao Yu Doin" Mob slangs and their constant depiction on the tv and film screens

You are not here to make a choice - you already made it. You are now here to understand why you did
