So this just happened.................... the mouse pointer/arrow is stuck in one place. It was fine thru pout the day and now this! I tried a wired usb mouse but it is still the same.

Any ideas what is going on?

Just reboot & it will be all right. Also check the connection of the mouse.

Try re-booting in safe mode and see if it works. If it does; re-install mouse drivers.

Did you update your video card drivers lately? sometimes the video card [mouse layer] can cause this too.

guys..........................i had installed a vidoe card but that was 4 days ago and i did not update anything today.

I ve rebooted several times.

Now I tried rebooting and now the keybord does not respond till the OS comes on............................ wth!

I have Win 7 on the 2nd partition and at one time I booted into win 7 and the mouse was stuck there too....

If its USB change the slot.. if its ps2 mouse, find a cat.

^^^^^^^^ Ok so the keyboard is back! and yes I did change the USB port with no luck! could it be malware?
I did have wireless mouse.I ve now attached wired usb mouse but still the same.
If I can get in safe mode what mouse related items can i take out? maybe that would work..........

My computer> right click >device manager> check for any exclamation mark> update driver...try that too

Why go through all the hassle if you have backup of your data - just reinstall the OS.Try to get latest drivers for your gpu as well as mouse from Windows Update.

nothing worked so far................i ll give it till tomorrow am and then reinstall.
I finally logged in safe mode and the mouse worked just fine.............

UPDATE:

I switched to onboard graphics and uninstalled PCIe graphics card/software, deleted some items in hardware manager under HID . One of these was the culprit ! All fixed up now!
