Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally is a rally raid type of off-road race, organised by the TDCP in Pakistan. The rally initiates near the Derawar Fort in Ahmadpur East Tehsil. ... Around 100 drivers and teams from all over Pakistan participate and almost 100,000 visitors witness it every year.

The event venue is Derawer Fort (Cholistan). Approximately 95 km south of the city of Bahawalpur, the forty bastions of Derawar are visible for many miles in the Cholistan Desert. From Bahawalpur get to the GT Toad towards Karachi. From Ahmedpur East Bypass take the left turn towards Dera Nawab Cantt. Before Entering Dera Nawab Cantt take Left turn and then right. Due to opening of Motorway, the distances reduced.

GEAR UP FOR CHOLISTAN CHALLENGE​

International Cholistan Desert Rally started back in 2005 and has since grown in leaps and bounds. The upcoming rally will mark this event’s 15th edition which reflects its ever-increasing popularity. The event portrays a positive and softer image of Pakistan abroad and bring to highlight the real beauty of south Punjab’s landscape. Besides promoting tourism, such events also enhance the livelihood of the locals. The prime objective to hold this event in the heart of Cholistan desert is to show outside world its history and rich culture and open this area as a winter tourist destination.
This rally covers three districts of Punjab, including Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur. The rally is divided into three different categories – Stock, Prepared and Women category. Stock and Prepared categories are further divided into 4 categories (A, B, C, D).
The event shall be held on 08-13th Feb, 2022 in the majestic desert of Cholistan. More than 100 Racers from all over Pakistan will challenge the sand of the Cholistan in different categories. The Rally route has been extended to 500 kilometres in the Cholistan Desert and also includes major forts of the desert (Dingarh Fort, Marrot Fort, Khan Garh, Bhijnot Fort, Moujgarh Fort and Jamgarh Fo

TDCP International Cholistan Desert Rally covers two Districts i.e. Bahawalpur & Bahawalnagar.The Total Route Distance of Rally is around 500 Kms.The Rally Starting Point is Cholistan Desert near Derawar Fort.

Cholistan is one of the largest deserts of Pakistan, spanning over 16,000 square kilometres. A number of prominent historical landmarks, which include places like Derawar Fort, Derawar Mosque and Noor Mahal. are found near the desert.

Along visiting these noteworthy ancient buildings, there are many other fun things you can do upon your trip to the Cholistan For instance, if you are a motorsport fan, then you can also attend the very exciting Cholistan Jeep Rally 2020, which is going to be held this February. So, let’s get to know more about this event of desert racing in Pakistan.

The Cholistan Desert Rally is often known as the Cholistan Jeep Rally. However, the word “Jeep” has nothing to do with the international vehicle brand. This motorsport event is neither sponsored by Jeep, nor the rally is specified for Jeep vehicles only. In fact, in Pakistan, people often use the word “Jeep” to denote off-road vehicles and SUVs.

The event has been organised by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab for the past 15 years. Over 100 racers from all over the country participate in this event of desert racing in Pakistan and the number of participants grows each year. Derawar Fort, which is about 45 kilometres away from the racing track, serves as the camp office for the racing event.

During the rally, the vehicles cover a distance of over 220-kilometre racing track in the arid desert region. It’s an annual event that lasts for two to three days. This year Cholistan Jeep Rally is going to be held from 13th till 16th of February. The event will be concluded with a closing ceremony where the winner and runners up of the event will be awarded a trophy, cash prizes, and different types of souvenirs. Four-day Derajaat Festival begins

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The four-day Derajaat Festival featuring a jeep rally, tent-pegging, horse race and other traditional games commenced here on Thursday.
On the occasion, Provincial Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Faisal Amin Gandapur and Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Khan Gandapur distributed tags among the participants of the off-road challenge jeep rally.

A 120-kilometre long track has been set up for the second national off-road jeep rally. The qualifying round will take place at race track CPEC Yarik Interchange on Friday. Prizes will be awarded to winners at the closing ceremony to be held at Rata Kalachi Sports Complex on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said that more than 200 cars were participating in the jeep rally. He said that the Dera Jaat Festival was a mega event being held in the main sports stadium of the city.

Provincial Minister Faisal Amin Gandapur said on the occasion that the festival would promote peace, love and brotherhood among the local people. He said that it would help in promoting the culture and traditions of Dera Ismail Khan at national level.
He said that cultural dance, archery, horse and cattle dance, pet show, wrestling and bodybuilding competitions, gymnastics and other local sports would be part of the festival. He hoped that the festival would attract a large number of people as many famous artists would also perform in it.


Sahibzada Sultan, a famous racer, who also took part in the last off-road challenge, told journalists that the track was extremely beautiful and the palm trees added to the beauty of the track.
“The track is located at the foot of the mountains and that’s why racers from all over the country are attracted to this event,” he said.

Qualifying round held for Derajat jeep rally

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: In the qualifying round of an off-road jeep rally on the second day of Derajat Festival, Zain Mahmood won the first position, Sahibzada Sultan second while Adil Naeem secured third position.

In the women’s category, Salma Khan Marwat came first, Palwasha Hayat was second while Rakhshanda Jabeen finished in third position.

More than 100 guests and racers are participating in the jeep race on a special 100km track under the supervision of Babar Khan and Ahmad Shah of Frontier 4x4 Club.

The stock category competitions will start from 8am today (Saturday), while two competitions have also been arranged for women. The final round will be held on March 6.

Among the racers are ex-chief minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal, Nadir Magsi from Sindh, Sahibzada Sultan Ahmed from Punjab, while women racers include Tushna Patel, Salma Marwat and Maham Shiraz. Three junior racers are also taking part in the competition.

Talking to media in this regard, the jeep racers said that the rally track includes beautiful palm trees and mountain views. This race is a test of nerves, they added.
They said the efforts of the police, the provincial government and district administration were commendable and the hospitality of the people of Dera was evident at every turn of the track during the qualifying round.
