'Mother Saritha' row: Police case against youth

Peravoor (Kannur): Kerala Police have registered a case against a youth in Kannur for posting an image featuring solar scam accused Saritha S. Nair as Mother Mary on Facebook.

The case was registered against Arun, a native of Peravoor. Both Peravoor Police and the cyber cell are probing the case registered under section 295(A).

However, the Peravoor Police is yet to receive a report from the cyber cell on the case.

Both CPM and DYFI have denied that Arun is a supporter of the communist party. Meanwhile, political parties have warned their followers and youth organisations against irresponsible use of social media to attack the opponents.

CPM has launched an awareness drive in the grass-roots level against such careless act of social media that could prompt the minorities to distance themselves from the party.

Arun, who was said to be a DYFI leader, landed in trouble by posting a photo on Facebook that featured Chief Minister Oommen Chandy praying to Saritha in the attire of Mother Mary.

Yes,You are right about UDF..It was a desperate attempt by Omman chandy with the help of 'Malayala Manorama' just to woo Christian votes(after the head bishop of Latin Christians openly supported LDF in the coming local body election)
