PAKISTAN - 13 SEPTEMBER 2009
KHYBER AGENCY: The political administration has sacked 357 more Khasadar personnel for refusing to perform duties in Bara Tehsil after threats by Lashkar-i-Islam Chief Mangal Bagh. The toll of dismissed Khasadar personnel has now reached to 715 in two days.
According to Political Agent Khyber Captain (retd) Tariq Hayat Khan, over 350 Khasadars are still performing their duties in Tehsil Bara despite threats.
It may be recalled here that Mangal Bagh had warned security personnel a few days ago to lay down arms or face dire consequences.
The warning aired on an FM channel said that security personnel who defied Lashkar-i-Islams orders would be slain and their houses and properties would be demolished.
After the dismissal of 715 Khasadar personnel fresh appointments would be made to fill vacant posts in the force and vacancies would be advertised in newspapers. On the other hand, the list of those Khasadars who abandoned their duties were being prepared.Online
