Modified SMG Chinese (Type-56) Used by Pakistan Army

You know your stuff, even the guys in Army call it an M4 butt.
hehe, Thanks.
That's the Type-56 (I), we use the Type-56 (C) which does not have a fixed bayonnet.

Type 56 = Permanent Bayonet, normal stock:
type56old.jpg

Type 56-I = Steel under-folding stock, the stock is just like the Russian AKM-S. Comes with a bayonet and some models don't have them.

Type 56-II= Comes with a "Chinese AK stock", no bayonet:

Type 56-C is the carbine variant, comes with Chinese AK stock and a 20 round mag:

The one in the picture you showed aren't carbines, in fact look more like Type 56-IIs

They already have ... With M-4 variants etc.. You won't find any new pic of SSG with AKs...

Meanwhile SSGW,SSGN etc don't even use AK type weapons...
Sigh. The M4 doesn't suit Pakistan's Climate nor terrain. Nor does it's cartridge suit the role. The 5.56mm is made for wounding, so the enemy has to spend more resources on getting their soldiers out and treating them, which also in turn affects enemy morale and making it easier for logistics to bring more ammunition to the front. The enemy we're fighting now aren't a trained army, nor do they have to care for their wounded, nor do they use the 5.56.
The M4 was built for Urban warfare more than anything else, so the SSG should use M4s when in Urban areas, but use the AK series while fighting the enemy in forests, mountains and deserts. They won't need to bring much ammunition since they can pick it off dead enemies as well.
(Added bonus if the SSG use 7.62 Hollow Point since the Insurgents don't use any armor. The Hollow points are going to give them a new definition of pain)

Effectiveness > Looking cool

Almost everywhere the 5mm went against the 7.62, it lost.
In Vietnam, the US army started to use the 5.56 rather than the 7.62x51 against 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R, while fighting against an insurgency.
In Afghanistan, the Soviets just adopted the AK74 which was in 5.45x39 and went up against an Insurgency which used captured Arab AKM and AK47 7.62s, courtesy of Israel for sending it to them through us.
Then the Americans came and fought the Taliban with 5.56, and even after a decade and half of full military onslaught the insurgency still remains, stronger than ever.

Perhaps this is so because 7 is a lucky number? :omghaha:

Jokes aside, in my opinion the 6.5x39 Grendelski is the best assault rifle cartridges that Pakistan should go for. It's the best of both the 545 and the 762 combined into one cartridge.

The weapon itself belongs to a soldier... The variant and heck even the room (where the pic were taken) is a dead giveaway.. Also civilians don't have the variant..

That looks shody as hell. that Bushnell is a gen 1 NV hell I own a Gen 1 NV and they are outdated and rubbish. Is it a personal purchase? cant be supplied by the military for sure.

These must be the international designations, Type-56(C) is the designation that we in Pak Army use for it.

Please there is no need to get hyper over here. I suppose you haven't seen the picture of these gadgets mounted over G3A3 Modified in my previous post. The concept originally works with Monocular Sights (AN/PVS-14 Monocular Night Vision Device (MNVD))

Tolerances are considered. You can't be effective with ANY intermediate caliber rifle above 300 yards anyway.
Also, heat typically effects only the barrel, and hinders accuracy. Happens with all guns. Heat can also cause cook-offs.
Is SMG being used at siachen or deserts of thar etc?

. .
Is the hand grip, stock etc of the type 056 made of real wood? If so why use wood? Surely there are other materials that are lighter. Secondly does the type 56 use the 7.62 x 39 round?

Well it along with other AR type weapons surely do suite SF.... Apart from that alot of those are floating around with the army aswell.

In short I'm not claiming that the army's G3s with M-4s.. Merely the SSG that's dropped the AKs apart from the 100 series.

i'm not sure how effective these guns are, they may look modern, but in practice who knows how it performs.

AK variants are used pretty much everywhere :P

SSG shoot human size targets out to 300 meters with all of their assault rifles. Intermediate caliber rifles are useless beyond that distance anyway.
Remember, red dots like the Aimpoint PRO on the rifle do NOT magnify. They allow the user to shoot faster, shoot on the move .etc.

I think you mean it allows them to see more of their target while aiming:

Same level of zoom, only a bigger view of the target, unless you're using a magnifier or a telescopic optic, ect.

Plus, look at this sights comparison:
