Pakistan has always preferred peace, said Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while speaking about relations with India.
“Pakistan has proven that it is fully capable of defending itself,” he said. “Pakistan is willing to tread the path of peace.” He was speaking to media in Multan on Sunday.
He emphasised the need for everyone to stand united under the present circumstances.
On Pakistan Day, Prime Minister Imran Khan had received a congratulatory message from his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi.
We know the trickster well. The Indian premier’s March 23 message indicates a change [in his policy],” he said.
The situation will keep changing until Indian elections are over. India is trying to isolate Pakistan, he remarked.
China has always stood by Pakistan and it still stands by us, he said.
On PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s recent tirade against the government, he said that the PPP leader should advise the government on what path to take. “We will value PPP’s input,” he said, adding that making statements will not solve any problems.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi also spoke on Nawaz Sharif’s condition. “The former premier is receiving all health facilities. We wish him an early recovery.” Nawaz Sharif is serving a seven-year term at the Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore after being convicted in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
