lol..now you claim to know everything all of a sudden ? A promise was made and govt. is going ahead with its promises of an investigation and arresting people. You tried making an insinuation were govt. had done nothing, that is falling flat on its face and now you say "Do you believe it was all about Kunal Ghosh and Madan Mitra when we talk about Sardha scam? "
He is a milder version of Joe ... We Sanghis should be debate more with these Fibrels to expose them completely ...

Last 15 years Private media has became so strong in India to the point they dictate whom we should vote for , what is morally correct, who should go to jail and who should be pardoned... to a point where they had influence on Elections, Court Judgement's, Police action and even to the extend of Foreign Policy...

If the Media thinks Beef ban is a bigger News then farmer suicide , an Ex-presidents death deserve far less importance then the Hanging of a Terrorist then sure we should wipe them out...

Hope Modiji doesnt repeat the mistake of Atalji and continue doing nothing that would weaken this Media Business ...

Me being a hardcore fan is irrelevant, ignore that for a moment... Painting me with a single brush will not help either of us. Giving mitti and water is symbolic, don't ignore it. A.P will get support from center as time goes on, it may or may not come in media. As for everything else, wait till 2019. 4 of your points i disagreed on and i have the right to disagree on them without being labeled Sanghi, Bhakt, hardcore modi fan etc...Some of those same points have been repeated by well known Modi haters and are just plainly wrong.

It is very much relevant.... you can disagree with me... no harm in that... coming to the tag sanghi.. bhakt.. it just same logic which you guys used against those who don't support Modi ji.. or who disagrees with RSS or another being tagged as liberals or sickulars... first Modi need to control his ministers or Mps.. from making nasty statements.. . coming to economic progress.. I mentioned he got his time to prove... But economic progress doesn't lies on some news article head lines or some grade points given by some agencies.... what we need is true progress in common life's than progress on papers... as far as politics concerned as of now.. Modi is just like others... When he is PM of this country.. he should act and speech like that.... during Bihar election campaign he talked like normal politician... He is head of this govt... I'm surprised after listening his mud throwing speech in that campaign... he should gave that chance to his ministers or MP... coming down like that is a bit......

giving mitti might be symbolic.... but he didn't even tried assure what he promised before... what he did is handover the that mitti and water.. if it was election period... he might come up with big list of promises like Bihar... we should get rid of such strategies...

No it isn't, only my points are relevant my political inclination is not. Bringing my political inclination into this is your weakness.I call names to people who deserve to be called names because they are hypocrites of the highest order.

"Control his ministers" is very much irrelevant even in the shorter scheme of things. The problem is Media does hit jobs and people like you believe it and then complain in the forum without fact checking, either deliberately or being ignorant.

Common mans progress will take time, several steps have been taken to improve the life of the common man, the villager the farmer etc. Saying Economic progress does no lie in news article is a rather illogical statement. News articles only report on news, its your job to confirm it weather it is true or deny it. Stop blaming news articles. As for What PM speaks, that is your opinion, on the stage of an election campaign is a politician. He will talk like one. Nothing wrong in the mud throwing speech, just a lot of people have been riled up after his recent speech

He is head of state... so he should talk wisely leaving the job to others.. MMS unable to control his toons in corruption... Modi is not controlling toons making stupid statements.. in this issue MMS and Modi got commonality.. economic progress lets see... if he is paper tiger or not... Modi plays political game very well.. coming to corruption it will take time... as it is just beginning.. you might believe he is Saint... but not everyone...

Same thing has been repeated, refer to post 78 for replies *sigh*

I wont call him smart as a smart man would have handled the incidents in a different manner. A smart man is not who remains silent or goes all guns against his opponents but sees opportunities in the angle of attack!

The real gullible men/women aided by the blabber mouth media, the took-the-beating foreign dollahs and fekular nationals got all ganged up coz he got so involved in his role that he couldn't set expectations and code of conduct for some of his cabinet ministers. I wont call that smart.

Now that the damage has been done, I would expect this to end here and not proliferate+ he delivers on his promise. If that doesn't happen, I have to leave India and find my nest somewhere else  may be I will contact @levina for a visa.

Modi government is Congress plus a cow, says BJP leader Arun Shourie

Arun Shourie

In a sharp attack on the Narendra Modi government, BJP leader Arun Shourie on Monday contended that it believes that managing economy means "managing the headlines" and that people had started recalling the days of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"Doctor Singh (Manmohan Singh) ko log yaad karne lag gaye hain (People have started recalling the days of Manmohan Singh). The way to charaterise policies of the government is - Congress plus a cow. Policies are the same," Shourie said at book launch function.

The function to launch 'Turn of The Tortoise', a book written by former Business Standard Editor-in-Chief T N Ninan, was attended by Manmohan Singh, Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subranamian and former Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran.

Pointing out differences between the present and the previous governments, Shourie said "there is clearer belief (in the present dispensation) that managing economy means managing the headlines and this is not really going to work."

Targeting Modi, the minister in the Vajpayee government said, "I feel there was never a weaker PMO as now". He said "there has never been as great a centralisation of functions, not power, of functions in PMO as now. If fellows don't have domain expertise, that Brajesh Mishra had, L K Jha had, all these principal secretaries had, then things get stuck."

Shourie said, "everybody is busy and everybody is doing very hard work, but it is not resulting in two there big things that was problem at that time(UPA government time)."

Elaborating, he said, "If you see impediments that were there in tax administration, virtually no change. Banking reform has been delayed by year and a half for no reason. So therefore this tortoise is very generous metaphor. Ye to so hi jata hai (this tortoise goes to sleep)."

He claimed that industrialists are afraid of speaking against the government. "The industrialists who meet the Prime Minister don't speak whole truth. After meeting PM, they wonder what is happening and say 'please do something'. And in front of media they give the government 9 out of 10," Shourie claimed.

Shourie noted that Parliament has become alibi for not doing anything. While taking digs at the Modi government, Shourie said it should embrace everybody instead of fighting. "Don't get into fight with everyone. If you want to build Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, you require support of 5 Chief Ministers," he said.

Speaking at the event, Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian said the work on the draft bankruptcy law is at an advanced stage. Noting that India is one of unique development models, Subramanian said India is "a precautious development model" in both economic and political sense.
"India is a country which is not following normal economic development model. India is growing by defying its comparative advantage," he said. "We have lots of space to grow using our cheap labour. If we don't do stupid things then we can grow very rapidly," he said.

Shourie said the government cannot be run through "boxing matches" and that every state has to be taken into confidence for smoother policy implementation. On the government's relationship with the states and the opposition he said, "One thing that has surprised me about the government is its timidity. Slight opposition comes and the reform is dropped... In my head I would say please befriend, please impress. You cannot get up every morning and get into a boxing match."

He said the NDA government was essentially "the Congress plus a cow", in an apparent dig at the recent controversy over beef bans and lynching of a man in Dadri over rumours of consuming beef. Former Foreign Secretary Shyam Sharan, who was one of the panelists, also criticised the government on the foreign policy front saying there was no concrete results in terms of actual implementation.

"In terms of actual execution, we are slipping into an event mode rather than a process mode. There is a sense that we are moving from one big event to another big event; moving from one very successful visit to another successful visit and not paying enough attention on process.

"Visit leads to a number of decisions, number of initiatives but before the system is actually able to digest that and actually deliver on those we are already thinking about the next big visit, we are thinking about the next big event and that has led to a slow erosion of credibility so the grouse always is where's the beef?" Sharan quipped.

Chief Economic Advisor Arving Subranamian was also part of the discussion. He said the tenor of Shourie's criticism misrepresents economic stability that "we have achieved".
***************************

Could not stop laughing at Arun Shourie's statement.
The chief economic advisor says that Mr.Shourie has overlooked the fact that we are economically stable now. I'm not anti-Modi but I find this claim flawed because rupee's value hasn't improved yet. The government hasn't achieved any tangible results socially and economically, or may be its too soon to judge this government.

@Rain Man @anant_s @thesolar65 and others.

Shourie view's are his personal view, he is no longer in BJP. Moved out since 2014.

I agree with the heading to an extent, Policies are more or less same, and not near the expectation the only difference here is there is a leader to lead the govt.........

I guess we should give them another year before judging ourselves....

I am assuming 3years would be good enough to judge which way this government takes our economy.

That is assuming govt has sufficient political capital and space to take the economy where it wants to take it. In addition the global headwinds may or may not blow India's way

There has been a huge difference. The number of green signals to new projects and the lack of scams in themselves is a huge boost. Apart from that there are social schemes that are actually more meaningful that mere wordplay.

But we had higher expectations. Opps + media played the spoilsport. But for that honestly Modi is responsible. He had/has the power to effectively silence them. At least temporarily.

I agree on the scam free part....... This has been more or less a scram free one so far, and i do not see any big scam happening in near future......

The higher expectation was created using the same media, and one cannot blame media when it doesnt suit him..... I agree Modi had the power to silence them, or at times his silence was also a tool for media.......

When Modi came to power, i did not have any doubt on his ability to steer the country, i was apprehensive about the impact of his victory on those vanara sena's who put the word "Hindu" on their name, and Modi's ability to control them......I know as a PM he is not responsbile, but he is very well aware the impact of these morons on his govt image, and probabaly would have used amit shah or some else to control them.....

I am assuming 3years would be good enough to judge which way this government takes our economy.

I would say more than 3 years in current scenario..... With the way oil prices are gone down, and its impact on Indian economy is huge......

Low oil prices are a boon to the government.

That is assuming govt has sufficient political capital and space to take the economy where it wants to take it. In addition the global headwinds may or may not blow India's way
I'm sure they considered these factors when they made tall promises during elections.
Btw I like BJP more than congress nowadays, its just that being a pro-Hindu party they constantly come under attack from international media.

What happens in election time - stays in election time. Wait that didn't exactly take but you get my gist :)
