Mobile phone imports reach $536.7 million in nine months

ISLAMABAD - The mobile phone imports into the country increased by 4.38 percent during the first nine months of the current year over the same period of last year. The imports of mobile phone during July-March (2012-13) were recorded at $536.7 million against $514.18 million during July-March (2011-12), according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Similarly the mobile phone imports during March 2013 increased by 23.81 percent and 51.37 percent when compared to those in March 2012 and February 2013, respectively. The mobile phone imports during March 2013 stood at $77.258 million against $62.34 million in March 2012 and $51.088 million in February 2013, the data revealed. Imagine how much we have spent in the last 20 years on mobile imports? All imports should be totally banned, instead give incentive to manufacturers to manufacture 100% locally, creates jobs and keeps the money in country
 
Pak should promote indigenous mobile brands, Pak has decent internal mobile market

In fact such companies will result in less demand(relatively) for imported phones and create jobs for thousands (jobs in mobile production plants and mobile accessories industries).
