Guys, so I've been working out for a while now and been on-off in crossfit training. My overall fitness has improved but I feel I should get into some form of martial arts for self-defence. I've been looking into MMA or Muay Thai primarily. Jiu Jitsu has also been an option but after seeing training sessions, I felt MMA or Muay Thai is a more practical option on the street.

Please let me know if anyone has knowledge regarding these martial art forms with a supporting statement on why'd you think it's best. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Go for MMA as it combines pretty much everything as boxing, Jiu jitsu, Muay thai.
Even the SOF have moved toward MMA from traditional karate and taekwondo.

Put Krav Maga as option.
Krav Maga is self defense in real life threatening situations in any kind of environment- not in a ring or arena like MMA or others martial arts.

Krav Maga is taught to throw an opponent down with in 5 seconds and move to tackle the next opponent. Training involves tackling 4+ opponents at 1 time.

How physically demanding is Krav aga as compared to Muay Thai?

No problem bai.

What is the best for children in Pakistan?
Depends
I have seen that Karate teaches punches throwing and kicks a lot. During training with Karate-trained folks, their kicks were savage.
MMA guys are experts in pinning the opponent to the floor, while training with them, when they get somebody on the floor, he is doomed.
Krav Maga teaches to be vigilant in streets, remain aware of surroundings when outside home, assess gestures of opponent and be mentally prepared, strike as last option but the strike should be lethal and target weak points from on-set....and then get the hell out of there.

During KM training, we were pitted against opponents of different martial arts and styles, to develop an all round strategy for combating any opponent.

These are just sports not useful in real fight

But there is no Krav Maga in Pakistan, the reason being its origins (as you mentioned). What I am looking at is the initial / beginner training style that in more older age can help them with learning other styles easily.

You won't realize unless you come across someone with these skills :-).

By bodybuilder I meant strong not too much muscular
All these martial arts moves look like show offs and look good in films

Bodybuilding is a sport that too requires strength but it has no comparison with MMA, Kung Fu Krav Maga Karate Shotokan ...... these sports are more technique based, require better reflexes, more situational awareness.

Ub cheeni movies ki tarah insan urtay huay to lar nai skta ......
