The Mitsubishi F-X (unofficially called F-3) is a sixth-generation stealth fighter in development for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF). It is Japan's first domestically developed stealth fighter jet and will replace the Mitsubishi F-2 by the mid–2030s.[1] Its development is to also bolster the nation's defense industry and potentially enter the international arms market amid Japan's change in defense posture.[3] In October 2020, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was selected as the lead developer.[4]

South Korean trumps Japanese in this day and age. Japan was best in the 1960 to 1990s.

Japan has lots of pull in legacy Cold War era technologies like printers, combustion engine cars, etc. but they totally missed the internet revolution, the mobile revolution and the big data revolution.

FA-50 can consider be the first for Korean. It's a fighter/advance trainer and doing quite well for overseas market.

Well, it's not hard to design a fuselage. It's the engine that is the core of any fighter jet. The day South Korea can make a fighter jet engine is the day it truly makes a fighter jet.

Stealth is different class, the material and metalurgy needed to make radar absorbing quality. It totally different from past class of fighter jets. Only a few chosen mega industries can master it

Well, in that case no KF-X has no such material.

Not that easy too when there is so many good plane in the market. Just look at Japan's 5th generation plane shinshin. However, is still too early to call to be successes for Korean 5th generation program.
