One of HAL's divisions namely Mission & Combat System Research & Design Center (MCSRDC) is responsible for the integration of an Air-to-Sea anti-ship-missiles for the Indian Air Force. The structural design, electrical design, integration testing, certification and flight evaluation are part of the integration process.
HAL's Overhaul Division has undertaken the modification of two Jaguar maritime aircraft for this purpose and the integration activities are carried out by MCSRDC.
Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC), one of the Ten Research & Design Centers of HAL, is one of the pioneering organizations in the field of Design, Development, Prototype Building and Testing of fixed wing aircraft. The Aero Mechanical clearance of store on the aircraft was supported by ARDC. Trials were held in a couple of months ago to establish data link with the support aircraft and the ground telemetry. The next phase of trials basically checked the missile with airborne telemetry and subsequent missile firing.
After the completion of the trials, the team executed the final missile firing in an ‘Air-to-Sea' mode. A decommissioned ship positioned offshore of Goa was the target and the missile hit it with pint-point precision," the official added.
