None of the EAF F-16 are equipped with BVR missiles I think. So no it isn't enough to counter Israel at least.

You say some of what i mean

Egypt donot start attacking in normal political condetions , Egypt took only defensive actions till the war start

F1 is not such a great plane to keep it secret.

may be in 80s & 90s it is a good secret

but now it is not , so the EAF started declearing slowly that it have it

Back in the late 70's and early 80's.. the F1 was the hottest thing from europe.
Now.. its just an outdated aircraft which cannot compete with the post F-14 serialled aircraft..

The EAF has long mothballed its F1's..
Opting for F-16's which are a moderate threat to Israel.

No secret about Mirage F-1 it was/is outclassed by early F-16A/Bs avionics-weapons with it made the F-1 goose and dead. F-1s not no longer available in EAF inventory, current mirage 2000 of EAF are in deplorable condition without fangs. No strategic upper hand with F-1, The regional Skies are ruled by F-16s.

Egypt2100...Multi-role has has an upper hand can be used in all scenarios for dedicated A2A-A2G-Anti-Ship Roles and so on..
Negative F-14 were more superior to F-1 mirages even F-1 could not/ never will compete with F-16A/Bs.

Lastly updates-upgrades did not proceed for many of its Fleet in EAF; except for purchases and upgrades of current F-16s.

The only latest is EAF is eager to replace atleast X number of squadrons (many of Mirage III-Mig-21-F-7s) with JF-17 mainly because JFT superiority, bvr (non availability of US AMRRAMS), anti-ship and other advantages it carry that is not available or offered to EAF by US-French over these 3 Types and mainly due to single type replacing atleast 2 Types if not 3 Types in service, which sounds a sane move on part of Egypt.

Those 20 F-16 Block 52 purchases ordered could most likely replace F-4s in Service with EAF, another move to phase out another Old Type. I think EAF has come to senses to reduce burden and maintenance nightmare on ground crew technicians-engineer.

Maybe these would have been potent against israel back in the 1973 war, but now these are as good as useless against Israeli F-15's.

both f-1 and f-14 are in service in IRAF.the missions of them are so different.and in iran-iraq war 30 to 40 f-1s was destroyed by tomcats.and just 5 tomcats was destroyed by IRAQI FIGHTERS(not just f-1).
