I have a few military questions

1. when a submarine launches a torpedo against an enemy ship , is there anyway the ship can stop it , what can it do , does it launch another missile or something to hit the torpedo?

2. About aircraft carriers - how can an aircraft carrier protect itself againts hundreds of missiles from all forms , e.g lets say a country launches hundreds of missiles against it , they are cheap compared to a AC worth billions , surely it can stop some if it but how can it stop all .

Thanks

. . .
Perhaps give it a little more time to let some of the experts log in a couple of days rther than a few hours after all not everyone is on all the time.

An answer at least from a limited knowledge base to give you some help.

A: once a sub has attacked your in deep ****, thie whole idea of anti sub warfare is to find and prosecute the contact before it gets into a position that it can launch a torpedo there are towed decoy systems but i dont know what there is in active counter measures. Perhaps why every time the Aussies surface next to a US carrier and go bang bang is embaresing ;)

B: a Carrier isnt alone, and defence is a multi layered approach.
1: Fighter aircraft intercept of the planes carring the missiles at long range.
2: Fighter aircraft intercept of long range missiles
3: ecm eccm etc
4: surface to air missiles from the outer escorts such as destroyers
5: surface to air missiles from aegis cruiser and inner ring escorts
6: pont defence/close in weapon systems

hope that helps till one of the naval experts can give you more detail and correct any glaring errors

1. When a sub launches a torpedo against a ship/Sub,it can counter it by jamming it or attacking the sub which launched the torpedo(works with wire guided torpedo) or decoys which misguides the torpedo. (there is a Bharat Dynamics developed Decoy system in service with IN,forgot the name)
2. Carrier Battle Group

.
Bharat Dynamics Ltd C303 Torpedo decoy system.- It launches a propelled decoy against the launched torpedo and misguides it.
Ordanance Factory Board made Kavach MOD.-Its a system of 3 different Chaff Rockets against Anti ship missiles. Max range of 15 km.

How can it jam it after its launched? Like does it stop it or make it go wrong direction or something? So from this i know when a torpedo is launched your in real danger.

But let's say a USA coming to attack India and aircraft carriers come near, and India just fires 100s of missiles to it can it shoot all these to me it seems so hard, such fast things, like blocking continous rapid punches

your not going to sail the Nimitz into Nhave Sheva and hope you can fend off 100 BrahMos by the time your talking carrier battle group you have a serious wide scaled conflict how many missile bases have been hit before the CBG is even is range, what satelite or radar ability do you have left to even know the carrier is coming.

Yes 100 missiles sounds like a lot but thats why systems like aegis are desined to track 100's of targets simultaneously

Actually that's true, they wouldn't send the AC before destroying targets on land

Yes. It can be jammed after its launched.
Homing torpedos can be stopped/misguided using jamming sonars.
Wire guided torpedos are jammed by Electrical means i.e, by confusing the operator or by attacking the launched platform.
Indian Torpedo Decoy system for eg,is launched by a submarine once an enemy torpedo is launched. The decoy system produces signals(homing as well as electrical signals) to confuse the torpedo until it runs out

A few years back, a group of 5 pirates in wooden makeshift boat ATTACKED uss Nicholas mistaking it to be a merchant vessel. They fired 5 RPGs to Nicholas,4 of it were killed by ciws, last on scored a hit.

I didn't understand, so the AC got hit by rpg? What happened to it

Not an aircraft carrier, but a frigate. The frigate got a hole in its side hull. The frigate captured the pirates and sunk their skiffs. Pirates are serving 80 yr terms now.
