hello friends,
how do you like the idea of an arcade gaming section for the members?
away from the serious debates this might prove to be a calm down effect.
would like to hear from all.

thanx :pdf:

Everyone should buy a Legit cd of Counter-strike and make a public server. Let the "Head-shots" begin!

^^^ paid for the game twice, both times forgot my account :(

Ok Web Admin, before jumping small point on military games…

If the forum as proposed is simply a counter –strike rave zone then I would fail to see it as a forum per say.

But since the suggestion was military gaming then there may be a slight difference.
For a simple example just with in military gaming there are various games covering both naval, air and land strategies that go beyond that of the so called team level first person shooter.

So just to start with a small concept of the list issues and only looking at land warfare, the game base types fall in to one of the following styles:

  1. Turn based types:
    1. I GO You Go, (IGYG)
    2. We Go, (WEGO)
  2. Non Turn Based, (may include network based)
    1. First Person Shooter, (FPS),
    2. Real Time Systems, (RTS),
    3. Hybrid, RTS with the ability to pause.

There are several military games that are available as commercial games that are derived from their military version. Note military as in used by military training.

Now it would depend on what one really calls military gaming.
I know several games using the above operating styles that truly fall into military gaming, and are commercial. Unfortunately I would doubt many here would want to play these, as they are usually short on eye candy.

Same small examples. derived from their military simulation counterpart.
  • Point of Attack 2 - WEGO, operational and tactical.
  • TacOps v4 – WEGO, tactical.
  • Steel Beasts Pro SE - RTS, tactical, limited operational.
  • Decisive Action –WEGO, operational

On the heavy semi military simulation side:
Armored task Force, through to Air Assault Task Force – Hybrid, tactical
  • Armored Task Force
    [*]The Falklands War: 1982
[*]Raging Tiger: The second Korean War
    [*]The Star and the Crescent

Used way back in the dark days, Steel Panthers series, (I, II, & III). These now upgraded to the following:
  • Steel Panthers: World at War, (SPWAW) - IGYG, WWII, tactical
  • Win Steel Panthers: World War II, (WinSPWW2) - IGYG, WWII, tactical
  • Win Steel Panthers: World Main Battle Tank, (WinSPMBT) - IGYG, modern, tactical
These 3 games can provide low level tactical training but it is basic.

Now some of theses simulations I have listed may be interesting as far as playing, tactical discussions go as well as developing specific localized OOBs.
But I would question the number actually interested.

OK mild ravings over.

So was this initially intended as something serious or just a local way to get a Counter-strike trivia forum running.
