Eight BSF personnel, including an officer, were injured when militants attacked their convoy at Pampore in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said today.

Militants opened fire on the BSF convoy at Kadlabal in Pampore town around midnight last night as the security personnel were returning to their camps after performing security duties for the 44-day Amarnath yatra which concluded on Sunday.

The attack came ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state today.
Eight BSF men including an Assistant Commandant were injured in the attack, the police said, adding the BSF personnel were travelling in two vehicles.

The injured have been admitted to Army's 92 Base Hospital at Badamibagh here.

2 cops, one civilian killed in militant attack in Kashmir - The Times of India

SRINAGAR: Two policemen and a civilian were killed as militants opened indiscriminate fire on a police vehicle in Pampore area in south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Wednesday.

The militants fired at the vehicle of a deputy superintendent of police at Gallander area at around 7:45pm, leaving the civilian dead and seriously injuring two personal security guards of the officer. The guards later succumbed in hospital.

The identity of the deceased civilian could not be ascertained so far.

No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack which was the third on the security forces in the past two days.

A constable of Railway Protection Force (RPF) was on Tuesday shot dead by militants in Pulwama district.

Eight BSF personnel, including an officer, were injured when militants had attacked their convoy at Pampore on the intervening night of August 11 and August 12.

Two BSF men killed in militant attack near Srinagar - The Hindu

Two BSF personnel were killed and four others injured when militants opened fired at their vehicle just outside the Awantipora IAF airfield in Jammu and Kashmir on Satuday.

Officials said a squad of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was changing guard at the airfield in Pulwama, 33 km from Srinagar this afternoon when a group of militants opened fire at them from automatic weapons.

The BSF is deployed for securing the Indian Air Force airfield and the squad that came under militant attack belongs to the ‘G’ company of BSF’s 165th battalion.

“The militants opened fire at the BSF squad that was in a military gypsy. Two personnel were killed and four have been injured in the firing,” a senior official said.

Immediately after the firing, the other BSF personnel present on the spot retaliated but the militants fled.

A reinforcement contingent of the Rashtriya Rifles and the BSF has reached the area for search and sanitisation task, they said.

The injured have been shifted to an Army base hospital in the vicinity of the airfield located, they said.
