The trade imbalance between the two countries has figured high on the agenda in discussions between the two countries. The trade deficit between India and China increased about 34 per cent to $48.43 billion in 2014-15 from $36.21 billion in the previous fiscal, in China's favour.

Top Indian CEOs like Chanda Kochhar of ICICI and Rajan Bharti Mittal of Bharti Enterprises Airtel told NDTV that the growing trade deficit is a huge worry.

"The trade deficit has to be managed... The task force needs to work on this because the gap is huge," Mr Mittal said.
