same story in pakistan too, need to improve the storage godowns, its ot like we cant ptoduce enough to eliminate the hunger. wheat can still be kept under such conditions but other quickly rotting food gets too much wasted like vegetables etc

Whole ******* infrastructure has to developed. From storage spaces to distribution facility. Why not engage local unemployed youths for logistical support, can you even think how much employment this can generate? With it's implementation, food can be easily shipped from area of abundance to the area of scarcity, keeping inflation at check.

And all they want is to allow FDI in retail, maybe our high class thinkers should pay a visit to Mexico to see the carnage these FDIs did to their domestic market.

Agreed..Coming back to the rotting grains problem...Yes we have a massive storage problem and it needs million of dollars in investment. So until proper storage facilities are built, why can't the grains be send to flour mills and converted to flour, which will occupy less space when compared to wheat.

So until proper storage facilities are built, why can't the grains be send to flour mills and converted to flour, which will occupy less space when compared to wheat.

Shelf life of wheat is less than whole grains. My point is, why not distribute the excess at a very nominal rate to the workers and farmers in the rural areas and for free to the BPL card holders?

Middle class people don't exactly feel the pinch of 5-7% inflation, their panicky behavior can be explained by 'sheep in a herd' phenomenon.

GoI has taken initiatives to distribute free medicines among the poors, lets see if it materialize of not.

And further reforms are required in health care sector to tackle this problem, but this problem is not as grave as the starvation problem.

What about the middle class especially the lower middle class. The rising cost for the medicines can seriously upset the family budget. GOI have grand plans to distribute free cancer/AIDS drugs..Good..but most Indians suffer from PHD..Pressure, Heart & Diabetes. Is there any plans to give out medicines for these at lower rate or free.
