High-tech 'fertility chip' measures sperm count, mobility | Health Tech - CNET News

If you'd like a better understanding of what it takes for sperm to be considered fertile, go grab your measuring spoons and look at the quarter teaspoon. Roughly that amount of ejaculate should boast anywhere between 20 million and 150 million sperm. Anything less than 20 million and fertility just might be an issue.
Might need to grab 'something' else as well...

So Loes Segerink, a researcher at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, has developed a "fertility chip" that can accurately count one's sperm concentration as well as measure its mobility (when discussing sperm the synonym "motility" is often used). What's more, the test can be taken at home, with the ejaculate being, ahem, collected in a more private environment.
Would be more fun if the collection is performed by someone else who has an equal interest in your 'manliness', no?

...the sperm flows past a liquid-filled channel on the chip beneath electrode "bridges." When cells pass beneath these bridges, a brief fluctuation in electrical resistance occurs. By counting these events, the chip is counting sperm.
Would there be an 'Intel Inside' label with this contraption? Would the 'manly' man be alerted to the count completion by that little Intel tune?

The chip not only counts sperm, but sorts motile sperm from its dormant brethren, and then tallies up the groups.
Live tadpoles from the dead ones...

Lol i saw your name as the thread starter and thought it may content some thing like how much g force can you sustain or stuf like that but i was wrong by a mile

With a Laptop on my lap during most of my free evenings... I wouldn't say too "manly".

laptop in lap ? :hitwall:
i think you never heard that it can decrease the sperm count .......
heat generated from laptops can significantly elevate the temperature of one’s scrotum, potentially putting sperm count at risk. While the laptop may be making us more of a mobile technology generation and more efficient in the workplace, when it comes to bringing home the bacon and expanding the family unit – laptops may make male sperm count drop.

Man, your testicles (read: balls) need to stay somewhat cooler than the rest of the body. The heat going down there will weaken it against its purposes. Also, wearing supertight speedos that hold them hugged to the body make them warmer than normal, and do the same harm. So does bicycling for long durations as it over-stresses the bottom area that is suppose to help your prospective nextgen swim faster

So remember, avoid brief frenchie styled speedos and switch to latthe ka kachchha, hold your laptop high, and get on a motorbike when you go out. You will be quite a sight ;)

Well I now use a book as a barrier b/w my lap and laptop..I put a book on my lap and then I put my laptop over it? Would this save some of my sperm or . . . . . . . . . . :P
