The political war in Chhattisgarh after the recent Naxal attack has taken a strange turn. A Congress-versus-BJP battle has become a Congress-versus-Congress internecine feud. The party has turned on itself following reports that the National Investigation Agency’s preliminary inquiries point to a Congress hand in the Naxal ambush that led to the death of 27 persons, including top state leaders.

The NIA’s needle of suspicion seems to be pointing at the faction led by former chief minister Ajit Jogi who, along with son Amit, was mysteriously absent when the convoy was ambushed by Naxals on 25 May.

The revelations have sent tempers soaring and Congress workers are now venting their wrath on Jogi loyalists in different parts of the state. They’ve hunted them down, locked them into rooms, beaten them mercilessly with shoes and iron rods, leaving several badly injured.

The fight followed Jogi loyalist and one of the two survivors of the attack, Congress MLA Kawasi Lakhma, to the corridors of the swanky Gurgaon hospital in which V C Shukla is being treated for the four gunshot wounds he sustained. Lakhma turned up to inquire about his condition and there, right outside the ICU where Shukla was lying, a Congress group led by union minister Charan Das Mahant, now the new state chief, waylaid him and beat him with shoes. There was complete pandemonium in what is supposed to be a silent zone, but the hospital staff did not dare intervene as the two Congress factions tried to settle scores. Later, a bleeding Lakhma was handed over to the police, who were instructed to dump him somewhere near Karnal.

Furious Sonia

Those who accompanied Congress president Sonia Gandhi to Chhattisgarh after the Naxal attack on a Congress convoy were stunned by the depth of her fury. Sonia is known as a composed, polite person. But in Raipur, she lost her cool with everyone, from chief minister Raman Singh to the chief secretary Sunil Kumar and other senior officials to her own party workers. “You are lying,” she is believed to have shouted at Sunil Kumar at one point. And as Raman Singh fumbled with weak explanations for the security lapse that led to the killings, she told him angrily that the Centre had the power to dismiss him “in one minute”, according to someone familiar with the discussions.

She didn’t calm down even at the Congress headquarters in Raipur, where she met surviving state leaders in small groups. Those waiting outside could hear her raised voice through the closed door as she gave vent to her agitation and distress. Perhaps, the killings were a sharp reminder of past tragedies in her life and cut too close to the bone for her to handle with equanimity.

‘Thankless’ media

There were many red faces in the official delegation that went with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Japan when a Hyderabad-based television channel telecast footage of senior babus having a night-out in Tokyo with the media contingent. As is tradition, the external publicity division of the ministry of external affairs arranged a dinner cruise for the media, to which officials accompanying the PM were also invited.

It would have gone down as just another XP dinner, except that the hosts had also arranged for live entertainment in the form of a Bollywood dance performance. The dancer, an Indian girl born and brought up in Japan, was full of oomph and her dance was provocative. At one point, she almost had a wardrobe malfunction too, after which the entertainment programme was called off.

When the delegation returned to the hotel, panicky aides informed them that footage of the evening had been telecast in Hyderabad, with the TV camera focusing closely on the dancer and the officials watching her. There was a huge furore that night. PMO officials breathed fire at the ministry of external affairs, which in turn came down heavily on the media group. The representative of the TV channel was taken to task and XP officials vowed to stop all hospitality for accompanying media persons on future trips.

The threat was put into action almost immediately. When the delegation landed at Bangkok on the way back from Tokyo, media persons were left to fend for themselves, without the cocktails and dinner usually showered on them.

You don't need to apologize. It was ok.

You are defending this party which is pitching 5'th generation of Nehru clan against a tea-seller who rose to the present position by sheer hard work.

Congress is corrupt to the core buddy, your consensus must be admitting it.They don't even hesitate to shed the blood of their own to gain the power, this fact indicates their moral bankruptcy.

The second part about furious Sonia mata speaks volumes about her high headness and undemocratic way of working. They have taken this path in past when their choosen governor dismissed Nitish kumar's government in undemocratic fashion during it's very first tenure by misusing article 356.Congress many a time acts in a monarchial way.

Last para highlights that how they controls the fourth pillar of democracy by keeping them at tight leash.

well since you have not given your views , here are mine.

For one i know politicians are people with huge egos and generally have a very vindictive nature. so it would not surprise me to learn of the fact that jogi had a hand in doing this.
but i am a person who follows the news very carefully , no mainstream media has reported this , baring an article in danik bhaskar. If this was true i doubt one could keep this from exploding over the news channels, especially arnabs times now. :)

I know this may surprise you but bjp politicians are the same .
as to sonias part i doubt she said it as i know a bit of the constitution and the center cant just dismiss a state govt. second if you read my previous post i question the validity of this news. how is it that the main stream media is not reporting this?

the article was about one topic and digressed into something else in the last para which had nothing to do with the topic at hand , which makes for , if i may put it delicately (foolish writing):)
the article is full of generalities , it states that some hyd channel portrayed something . i live in hyd , have close friends in tv9 and sakshi . none of the news channels have ever reported this.

By the way reporters are not threatened ever as the media generally portrays the govt in a poor light . if as you said was possible no one would ever say any thing bad about the govt.

when ever one come across an article one should question it . see if the facts match and then take it with a pinch of salt .

Yes they are but when caught they are kicked out like Yedurappa or demoted like Gadkari unlike Congress which elevated Khursid to FM after he was exposed by Kejriwal
as to sonias part i doubt she said it as i know a bit of the constitution and the center cant just dismiss a state govt.
Are you oblivious to the fact about Bihar ,I mentioned ?? I think Sonia mata knows more about her powers than you.
second if you read my previous post i question the validity of this news. how is it that the main stream media is not reporting this?
Source is main stream media,I didn't knew that authenticity of report depended on popularity
the article was about one topic and digressed into something else in the last para which had nothing to do with the topic at hand , which makes for , if i may put it delicately (foolish writing):)
the article is full of generalities , it states that some hyd channel portrayed something .
The article is divided in three sections and stating the truth isn't disgrace in anyway , indulging in ungraceful activities is certain sign of low character
i live in hyd , have close friends in tv9 and sakshi . none of the news channels have ever reported this.
I would take credible source over anonymous netizen any day.

Now you are getting into conspiracy theories like Pakistanies.

.
i guess it was my mistake to think you would stick to facts:)

You are accusing her on the basis of speculation, while she was allegedly 'outraged', on the incompetence of state. While such security lapses are not permissible, she should be very well aware of what is practically possible. Raman Singh, an opposition CM, is not MMS that would keep quite after such altercation, had it actually occurred, or were he not at fault.

Last para highlights that how they controls the fourth pillar of democracy by keeping them at tight leash.
Goes two way. Everyone is at fault, all politicos and the media. What do you expect from a media which would quite down just cause it is not served alcohol and food?!

Buddy, he will not Debate with me, infact many deny debating against me.

Why?? He thinks that i m getting emotional, which is certainly not the case as whatever i say i say with citing out sources.

When i cite no. of sources favoring Modi many times any other candidate then the reply is -----> these are the survey only covering urban areas.

When i cite surveys saying that NDA will get 220+ seats than the reply is ------> These surveys have been wrong before.

& other blah blah & blah......

Sorry, but i m no more interested in debates here.

Ajit Jogi was quick to blame ruling state govt & didn't waste any time in calling for a statewide bandh. Just goes to show... this guy was waiting for this incident to happen.
