Pakistan’s trademark export is international terrorism, weapons, narcotics: MEA
The Ministry of External Affairs has strongly reacted to Pakistan on Sunday saying India had received “enough of Pakistan’s trademark exports – like international terrorism, cross border infiltrators, weapons and narcotics.” Speaking to the media, Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said it was ‘absurd’ on Pakistan’s part to talk about sending supplies to Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier on Sunday, Pakistani High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit had said that Pakistan was dedicating this year’s Independence Day to the cause of “Kashmir’s freedom.” Apart from this, Basit said that they would continue to lend political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris. “We firmly believe that the sacrifices made by the people of Jammu and Kashmir will not go in vain. The ongoing unrest should be ended. Pakistan will continue to extend its full diplomatic, political and moral support to the valiant people of Jammu and Kashmir till they get their right to self determination.” Basit said.

According to MEA statement, Pakistan’s foreign ministry had suggested sending supplies to Jammu and Kashmir. Condemning the move on all fronts, Swarup said, “We completely and categorically reject this purported communication from the Pakistan foreign ministry.” The fresh round of barbs came on the day Pakistan violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Pooch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

India had issued a statement on Saturday saying it would talk on “contemporary and relevant” issues which included eliminating the Pakistan-supported cross-border terrorism this time. “India would welcome a dialogue on contemporary and relevant issues in India-Pakistan relations. At this time they include a stoppage of Pakistani support for cross-border terrorism, infiltration of terrorists like Bahadur Ali, ” said Swarup.
