Marriage is very sacred and blessed thing what damn?...
Salik,
Damn , is the right expression in this regard.
In Delhi starting now this is what will happen :
1. Upto 800 -1500 marriages in a day ( peak being upto 2500 on a day). One does not have to explain what Delhi marriages can be - super traffic jams.
2. Ghori wallahs racing from one marriage to another often coaxing the groom to get off coz the other is waiting.
3. Attending two - three marriage a week - on working days and get to office the next day.
4. Driving back at 2 am happier by 3-5 drinks ( the host insists that ' inna jya' more wont make a diff) avoiding trucks that are allowed into the city when ' no entry' timings are lifted.
5. Acute acidity , hangover & work pressure.
6. One friend / relative or the other sulking coz you could not make it to his son / daughters marriage and spend the rest of the year pacifying them.
and so many more, this is the right time to be ' unwell' or out of town.
Yes...Damn !
P.S . Add to this the following :
a) Locations of marriage halls / venues are inversely proportional to where you stay. Farm houses are invariably at the other end of town - normally 2 hrs away with no place to park.
b) Add fog / mist to the chaos.
c) Add the tension of driving back ( refer 4 above) with ladies fully decked with jewelry - everything they could wear .
d) Biting cold.
On two occasions I have ended up in the wrong marriage only to correct myself in time before handing over the envelope to the bride / groom/ parents !
