I have asked if members of the PDF know of a detailed map of FATA in a previous thread and received no informative response. I appreciate that Saadahmed tried to help, but his maps were not detailed. From this I assume that the Pakistani members of the PDF could not locate a town or village in FATA smaller than Mir Ali any better than I can. How can FATA exist as part of Pakistan and yet there is no map that shows it's roads and towns?? The most detailed map I have been able to find is copied below. It covers a portion of North and South Waziristan but is hard to read. Are there really no maps of similar detail for all of FATA? Please advise. Thank you for your assistance!

that's because it's that wild and dangerous, the tales of the region still hold true till today. it's not governable, some tribes are hostile against each other. besides, I don't think there are, what you call towns, it's more like certain areas. most of the time, it's just territory marked up by certain tribes.

"khel" is basically another word for "zai", showing one's lineage and tribal affiliation. the map proves my point, there are only territories that belong to certain tribes, with the exception of a few notable areas.

AM, I made the thread title "inflamatory" trying to attract attention to my thread. My previous thread did not engender any good results. I fear that your bland title substitution will not result in the advance of the ball, unfortunately....:)

Hi TS, maps are available in abundance in all sizes and scales down to a smallest nullah and road but those are for Mil use, I am not sure if they can be posted here…

However, any decent Atlas of Pakistan or a book on FATA will surely have all the details you are looking for. Try Amazon or Ebay, you should be able to find one…Sorry, couldnt do much..

Thank you all for your advice on my FATA map question. I will follow up your suggestions. I wanted a good map so that when I read in the newspapers (both Pakistani and World) that an event has taken place in a town or village in FATA, I could see where it was. For example the last drone strike was reported as:

"An unmanned Predator aircraft fired at least one Hellfire missile at a Taliban safe house adjacent to a religious school in the town of Azam Warzak."

So I wanted a FATA map that would show enough detail to find "Azam Warzak". It is just for my own curiosity, primarily to understand where in FATA all of the "battles" and missile strikes are occurring. Most of the maps that people have proposed do not show towns and villages smaller that the agency centers such as Mir Ali or Miran Shah. You can see in my PDF account photo album the most detailed maps I have found by my own google searching.

The map of FATA is available at wikimedia, Please check the links below:

Thanks for trying to help pkpatriotic, but the maps you reference are not detailed in the sense of showing towns and villages smaller than Agency capitols. I have looked at everything suggested ^^^ by the PDF posters above, but none are better than the sketch maps of a portion of Waziristan that I show in my photo album that I already have found. For example, if you wanted to locate a town in North Waziristan that is SMALLER THAN Miran Shah or Mir Ali, where could you look? All of the maps that everyone has suggested to me do not show places smaller that the biggest one or two towns in each FATA Agency. I guess the situation is that the Pak Army has detailed maps but these are classified. Even the FATA website of the Pakistani Government does not have any detailed maps of its own territories!

This post is to keep my request for info on maps of FATA up in the list of threads. Please give me any leads you have to internet posted maps of FATA. Thanks.
