You are correct in your analysis. From I gathered yrs ago, the Maoists struggle is pretty legit. That;s why it is much easier for the "elite" in this case doctors, lawyers, academics and other professionals to sympathize with their movement. Though there was a difference initially between Naxalites and Maoists, I believe both have synced their movements together. I am completely totally against the Maoism but in the Naxalite sense, I support it. They have truly struggled for decades with little or no justice folks. YOu see this recent rape in Delhi and how the govt responded only after the ppl of India protested nonstop and continue to do so. But this has been going on for a long time and these naxalites living in their respective areas have truly suffered. They never got justice and at times died. This was and continues to be a clear case of govt ineptitude. If passed stringent laws decades ago this could have been nipped. Look at how long eve teasing has been allowed to go on? The punishement for such is lax. If we were to strike hard, we could have sent a msg early instead of allowing the youth to grow up thinking this is ok.

As for the Taliban versus Maoist....I think Maoists would win. They are trained to tactically and skillfully fight. What we forget is that the Taliban had no problems getting access to weapons. They also had no problem with access to soldiers. Fighters from all over the World were ready to join their ranks. The Maoists had to build a weapons supply from scratch. They stole and creaed their own weapons. They were able to produce manufacturing units for AK's. Of Course, Pakistan outer region has such facilities but they allow it. We don;t in India. From what I read, the Talibam would attack mostly at night. Daytime attacks and raids were rare but would occur if the terrain suited them. The Maoists planned the entire operation from beginning to end. They chose the fight and picked the location. It would never be random. Also, understand Taliban enjoys state support while the Maoists don;t

Yup. There are few school of thoughts which often confuse people and all are labelled as terrorists.

Sry I forgot but can you remind me. Im not for the violent aspect but I understand the route they took. I am all for the nonviolent approach and I believe they have genuine greivances.

And i dont understand point 1. that islam has complete ideological victory. ideology is a bad word in most parts of the free world. seondly every person will say that his/her religion has better ideology. a communist will probably say communism is greatest ideology and islam or any religion is crap and actually go to great length like mass killings to prove the communist ideology s bette. so I honestly dont agree to that statement. to me my idelogy is best and not islam.

In simple words : Islam inflicted MUCH more damage on Christianity ideologically , than vice versa. Christianity had 2 major components.

1) The Church of East
2) The Church of West

Do you see "The Church of East" that much now? No. Why? Islam eradicated almost HALF of entire Christianity. This is what I meant by "victory on ideological level".

that being said, i think that when it came to muscle power maybe the muslims won but during course of time when brain power decided strength the chritians west started taking over.

Again, you need to start taking BASIC history courses, before you talk about it. 'Brain-power' lied with Muslims for 1100+ years... How do you think Ottomans achieved Military superiority over the world? Their tactics were better, their weapon systems were superior, they had more wealth etc. This all can't be possible without "brain power" ....

Buddy, my points will be in vain if you don't read about reaspons and rise of Naxalites. Read the post of @trinity carefully without any prejudice.

Let me give you an example, if you live in a distant village, you are constantly oppressed by state, your land is taken without proper compensation, your kids are suffering, some people blew of CRPF vehicle because they were sick of this oppression, a CRPF team comes to your village with a sole aim to kill you, will you pick up the gun to protect you and your family or let them become an easy target.

Think about it.

Let me tell you an example. A girl leader of youth party was taken to police station, turned out she was harassed and may be raped by them, what will you do ? Few guys from youth group went to Police station and freed that girl. Now tell me one thing,

Without knowing the fact that Police itself was involved in attempted rape of girl, what will you think.

Police did their work, youth got angry and attacked Police station. Poor policemen. Now this is what will be reported in media and you will call the youth group as culprit.

Me and @trinity point out the real reasons fueling this movement. Unless you understand it, talk to people who can give you ground reality, you will never make an informed decision.

Every terrorist has some real/perceived justification behind his/her actions. My relatives lands were taken away at 1/20th of the market values for some bridge that still today has not been completed. So in your opinion would it be justified if he took arms against the state ?

And what if your relatives are suffering from it, can't feed their kids, constantly oppressed and picked out of their homes by the state itself, what will your relatives do ?

Go to court ? Goodluck with that.

BTW I am not saying giving justification on anyone's behalf, I am telling you what these people thinks, after decades of oppression. Is the area where your relatives live, is oppressed by the state themselves for decades ?

What I am point out is that when it comes to survival, its easy to push a person towards violent means. I have also talked about NGOs working on those areas who are educating people about their rights and influencing them for non-violent means.

Read both aspects said by me. One is POV of extremists and why they become one, and another how to educate people and stop them turning violent.

Unless one doesn't rectify the roots of the problems, one can't up root the problem. You can keep shedding branches but roots are were one has to act.

I have also talked about two prong strategy NOW applied by govt. to deal with this problem.

I am part of the group who wants to educate people about their constitutional rights and stand for them by using NON-VIOLENT means. Am I doing wrong ?
