if you compare the success rates of operations conducted by talibans and ltte ..talibans are no were near LTTE.

LTTE was the next only to Hezbolla in weapons capabilities.In some areas they were even better than Hezbollah.
They had 152mm Artilerry Guns,122mm MBRL's,SAM's etc.

Then i guess you never saw the TalibTubbies military parade, the weapons they captured from the Soviets as well as rival factions weren't toys, they had scud variant missiles, 300 mm MBRL's, MI attack helis, etc.. they were just useless against a "superpower" like America and the Nato.

Lets not forget, the TalibTubbies were able to defeat Afghan war"lords" who were equiped with MiG Jets, Tanks, MBRL's, Howitzers, Scud missiles, as well as attack helis.

Taliban have a huge ideological drive, depends if Maoists have that drive for communist rule. Other then that its all about equipment and training.

From what I can tell, the Maoists/Naxalites are mostly just petty criminals, involved in blackmailing and rackets.

They don't "believe" in their ideology in the way that the Taliban does, they won't be so eager to give their lives for it. Maybe some of their "intellectual supporters" believe in the ideology, but the Maoists themselves? Not really.

If the Indian Army were sent in, they could probably sweep up the Naxalites in a few months.

The Taliban on the other hand has stood up very well against an organized military force, the US army. They believe in their cause so strongly that they are willing to give up their lives in a heartbeat.

Clearly Taliban, in general Taliban are more battle experienced, better armed, fearless and relentless against all foes, their stamina and endurance is unmatched by any militant group in history. They are also better strategist and tacticians than most militant groups in the world. Taliban actually governed a nation (Afghanistan-after conquering it) before most militant groups cannot attest to that claim. They're recruiting skills are also unmatched by any other militant or insurgent group.

Taliban got better defense and they know it, if sht hit the fan they run to the Pakistan side of border or they go into their caves. For LTTE the jungles could only do so much as they were on an island eventually if they were forced to run they would face a dead end. Taliban are not trying to win, they are just trying to wait it out.

Talibans will win for sure.....maoists can't stand a chance even to police in face to face combat....what maoists do is they attack suddenely in 100-200 of numbers and kill 4-5 policemen in most cases.
