In a fierce encounter between Naxals and security forces, 11 CRPF personnel were today injured in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.

Sukma Additional SP Jitendra Shukla said 11 CRPF jawans were martyred and four injured.

The encounter with 74 battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was reported from Kala Pathar near Chintagufa in Sukma, the worst Maoist violence-affected district in south Bastar area of the state

The injured are being evacuated by helicopter.

Reinforcement parties from the nearest CRPF camp have also been rushed in.

Twelve personnel of the CRPF were killed in the same district early this year in a deadly Naxal ambush.

Raipur, April 24 (IANS) Eleven CRPF troopers were killed and seven others injured when Maoists ambushed a road-opening party in Chattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday, an official said.

The personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) 74th Battalion were attacked in a forested area in Kala Pathar near Chintagufa area around 12.30 p.m. and retaliated to the firing by the insurgents.

“Our 11 men were killed while seven others were injured in the fierce gun battle with Maoists. The injured are being evacuated by helicopter,” CRPF Deputy Inspector General M. Dinakaran told IANS.

He said that the 99-member contingent was moving towards Chintagufa from Burkapal area when Maoists, lying in ambush, opened indiscriminate fire and also lobbed hand grenades.

At least 12 CRPF men were killed in a similar Maoist attack in Sukma early this year.

Casualties are high because they always move bunched up and proper spacing is not maintained.
2ndly complacency . Instead of taking the fight to them , wait to be attacked in thick foliage.

High to ise kehte hain...
"ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army lost 2,700 military personnel in the Kargil conflict, far higher than its casualties during the 1965 and 1971 wars with India, former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said in his memoirs."

High is ko bhi kehtai hain. Jang lari nahi aur 1800 bandai phugat main marva diye

NEW DELHI: The life of an Indian Army soldier comes cheap. The US-led coalition forces lost just around 150 personnel during the recent Iraq operations. In sharp contrast, and without going to war, almost 2,000 Indian Army soldiers were killed or wounded during the 10-month forward deployment along the Indo-Pak border last year.

Not as big as this one:

"The number of Army personnel killed or wounded in Jammu and Kashmir and the western sector during the mobilisation, Operation Parakram, from December 19, 2001 to October 16, 2002, was 1,874," said Defence Minister George Fernandes.

It was a jackpot.

RIP.
Violent year for South Asia.

So far this year including recent incidents, 69 Pakistani security forces personnel and 189 civilians (Total: 258) were killed in militancy incidents whereas in India, 59 security forces personnel and 67 civilians (Total: 126)

True.
Also in this incident, 6 CRPF men were injured in the initial firing, when around 20 CRPF men went to pick up the injured about 8-10 Naxals opened fire.
But since pakistan has the army in charge we cannot really trust any figures released by them. Could easily be 300 pakistani soldiers killed.
