Manila slams Asean failure to issue statement on South China Sea
Sunday, Jul 15, 2012

The Philippines yesterday deplored the non-issuance of a joint statement at the end of the 45th Asean Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Cambodia.

Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario said the failure to issue a joint statement was unprecedented in Asean's 45-year history.

Its best they fight together, than be bullied individually by China.

Fighting over resources, too bad that is still the primary motivation of almost all countries. There are good points here, though, about China claiming waters it doesn't necessarily deserve.

"Long-simmering tensions in the waters have entered a more contentious chapter this year as the six parties who claim the territory search deeper into the disputed waters for energy supplies while building up their navies and defense alliances."

ASEAN did the right thing.

1. Vietnam and the Philippines are looking for a fight against China. The majority of ASEAN countries seek cooperation and prosperity with China. If the two troublemakers want a military confrontation with China, they are free to do it on a bilateral basis. They do not have a right to damage ASEAN's economic interest in China's vast $8 trillion market.

2. ASEAN understands their combined navy can't hold a candle to the PLA Navy. Only a fool would confront the world's second-largest and powerful naval fleet.

3. Vietnam and the Philippines are seeking help in the wrong place. If they want a chance against the PLA Navy (which can also undergo a massive naval build-up if necessary), they can only seek help from the U.S. Navy.

However, Vietnam lies within the First Island Chain and the Philippines lie within the Second Island Chain. This means any U.S. naval surface ship that tries to help the Vietnamese or the Philippines will volunteer itself for a real-life test of China's DF-21D ASBM.

I don't think the Pentagon is eager to test China's technologies (e.g. DF-21D ASBM, Chinese "Exocet" C-802 sea-skimming anti-ship missile, Yu-6 heavyweight torpedo, etc.) in a real war on behalf of Vietnamese and Filipino national interests.

It's escalating to a war because nobody is backing down. VN and Philippines should prepare for the worst. China shall see how powerful these 2 countries are since these VN members are so confident they are powerful enough to withstand China's capabilities. Let us all witness the VN strengths.

Read from this thread first before posting some nosense comments, dude:coffee:
Second: As I said: Phil hasn't show her will in cooperation with VN-Malaysia yet, so we don't need to convince Cambodia to side with Phil now.

Phil needsto show more collaboration to others ASEAN members before asking support from other ASEAN members.

The truth is Cambodia willing to cede two villages to VN and she's never accused Vietnam of being a bully in this matter, whereas she never cedes any land to china, so who is she supporting now ??:coffee:

This just show that Vietcong is a bully against Cambodia. Just because they cedes villages doesn't meant that they like Vietnam. It only show that Vietcong arm twist them into giving up their lands. Deep in their minds, they are seeking for a demise of Vietcong so they can recover their territory. So their real foreign policy objective would reflect their desire to recover territories that was robbed by Vietcong.

Vietcongs robbing 2 villages.... how sad can VN get? China should return those villages back to Cambodia after defeating VN.

Cambodia has fertile land, and lots of Gold beneath, every ones know china always salivates for it, that's why china brags that cambodia "openly supports and sides with china". Infact cambodia gives china only trash and some hollow words :P
“It would be a good opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to extract gold in Cambodia, though the capacity and technology of Vietnamese contractors is not high,” Hung mused.

According to Hung, Cambodia does not have a good mining industry and must rely on foreign technology.
.......
Some experts believe that the 8.1 million ton Cambodian mine
