17th January 1991 - Operation Desert Storm begins. The largest military alliance in 50 years moves to liberate Kuwait, beginning with a massive "Shock and Awe" air assault on Iraq on Day 1. 2775 sorties are conducted against strategic Iraqi targets in the first 24 hours of the Air War.

That’s insane!

29 years ago? hmmm....

A lot of new technology and things have changed for past few decades.

Was watching it live on CNN.
Pretty much put CNN on the map and caused ABC,NBC,and CBS to lose viewers forever as they were caught without many reporters in the hot zone.

You're the same age as me I guess lol.

This war was an eye opener for many people.
So many people tot Iraq army would at least resist a bit, but they were totally overwhelmed.

Compare to Korean War and Vietnam War, you can tell the difference between ME countries and East Asia countries:welcome:

CNN was almost a no-name news source. They were mostly known for playing the news 24 hours a day...usually droning the same stories over and over and over every half hour.

When the War broke out they switched to 24 hour war coverage. It was crazy. You'd be up at 2am watching some bomb camera blowing stuff up on CNN while the network channels were running dumb infomercials. Nobody was watching the other tv newscasts anymore...and none of them since.
