A prompt wedding will be forced upon couples found celebrating Valentine’s Day in Ramgarh. A Jharkhand district unit of the Bajrang Dal has even formed ‘10 raiding teams’ to catch such couples.

Bajrang Dal in a meeting on Friday evening at the district’s Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) office announced that it will have ready mandaps to marry off couples caught in parks and other public areas celebrating February 14.

Irony is that the state VHP has decided neither to protest nor go after couples celebrating the day this year.

“This is an independent decision of the Ramgarh Bajrang Dal. Though we morally oppose vulgar shows on Valentine Day, this year we would not take to streets to protest holding of the day, said senior functionary Jharkhand VHP Mritunjay Singh.

The Ramgarh’s unit decision also comes when the Bajrang Dal and the Shiv Sena on Thursday announced that it will not harass couples.

Cost of marriage to be borne by Bajrang Dal

Deepak Mishra, coordinator of the Bajrang Dal in Ramgarh, said that they have installed a stage for the Mandap and also hired a priest to conduct the marriage at their office.

Mishra added that the items for Hawan Kund (auspicious fire) and other things associated with solemnisation of marriage are kept ready. “The cost of the marriage will be borne by us”, he said.

How the ‘raiding teams’ would work

Ramgarh Bajrang Dal members said that each team will comprise of 10 workers. These team will keep vigil at all the important points in the town including noted Puri park, hotel and restaurants, cinema halls and college areas.

“If anyone is caught red handed, we will bring the couple to scheduled place and perform the marriage,” said Mishra.

Members unanimously agreed in the meeting that Valentine’s Day was an obscene celebration and was being promoted by the westerners to break ethics of Indian culture.

“It is an obscene festival of western society. Under a conspiracy, this bad culture is being fueled in India. Our culture is thousands of years old and it a pious culture of entire world. We don’t support western obscene culture,” said Chhotu Verma, an active member of Bajrang Dal.

Why would the Bajrang dal spend its energy on doing activity that is outside the preview of its constitution ?

...and its "India" ....katlu miya.

.
Bajrang Dal would have gathered respect if they distributed food packets and medicines to the needful on this valentines day, or any other day. India doesn't need moral policing.

.
If these Bajrangis see marriage as the solution to the apparent 'problem' of dating, I would hate to see the kinds of missus they have waiting at home, considering they are brave or foolish enough to leave their woman alone that day :p:

Its "Cultural Policing" not "Moral policing".

At least get your facts right.

The problem here is NOT dating, but importing the CULTURE of "Valentines" day.

For eg. story of Shakuntala by Kalidasa continues to be cherished by Bajrang dal.

let us not use high-funda technical/legal wordings to describe a reactionary movement.

...and its "India" ....

prophet jesus, prophet muhammad, lenin, muammar gaddafi, fidel castro, carlos.

problem?? :)

katlu miya.

try katlu style... will keep you clean and better pleasured. ;)

Yes, you had me on the poor choice of words there. Issue stays the same, what makes them think that every one from different cultural background has to incline to their view on the culture of a collective society?

Culture is constantly evolving. How else did Valentine's day come about? It was adopted through the Christianization of Roman culture.

By insisting that somehow importing Valentine's day into Indian culture is going to tear the moral fabric of Indian society apart is leaning towards the dramatic side wouldn't you say? After the countless invasions and cultural upheavels through the past millennium, with Indian culture and subcultures still the way they are, I hardly believe something like Valentine's day having a major impact today.

In fact this points to a whole lot of spare time and not enough willpower to involve themselves in making constructive use of it.

Finally, importing cultural influence or not, the methodology behind the solution they are adopting is not in the least bit 'dharmic'.

Not only culture, everything in this universe is evolving and devolving. That does not mean that all evolution or devolution is good. We still try to prevent ageing and death by disease or our society turning lawless.

The history of V day is irrelevant to the point.

Pure Ignorant rubbish. I am no interested in trashing your cooked up straw man of "importing Valentine's day into Indian culture is going to tear the moral fabric of Indian society ". That is YOUR SPIN. "culture" and "morality" are two separate matters for those who can see clearly. First clear the confusion in your own mind and sweep away the cobwebs of prejudice that makes you project your own insecurities on the Bajrang dal and their activities.

Indian / Hindu society is vibrant and liberal enough to grant equal right to women and is far more progressive than any Christian or islamic society and this has been so for the last 4000 years.

You said "AFTER countless invasion" and THAT is where you are wrong. The Invasion is still ON. Let me know when Indians can enter the US or Europe with as much ease any European or American can enter each others nations. Till then keep your "Global citizen" crap with yourself.

The west continues to be hostile to India, our culture, ethos and VALUES. They actively fund destruction our way of life. IT is ABSURD to Blindly continue to claim that after countless invasion our culture remain the same  .....Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh used to be our Culture. What happened when the cultural invasion took place ? North East India used to be our Culture. What happened there ?

As to how much impact V day will have is speculative, but the principle behind preventing it is Sound. Its the principle that matters.

In fact this points to a whole lot of spare time and not enough willpower to involve themselves in making constructive use of it.

Finally, importing cultural influence or not, the methodology behind the solution they are adopting is not in the least bit 'dharmic'.

They are doing something about it. That is FAR more than others who do NOTHING about it. So My respect goes out to them rather than internet warriors who expound misguided philosophies. Its as simple as that.

First earn the right to label them "dharmic" or "adharmic". Don't be so full of yourself.

so is your filthy mind from birth or your social circumstance?? :)

When dealing with pigs best to feed them $hit. Enjoy your feed.

the point remains... the ideology defended by "bajrang dal" was responsible for the "honor killing" of manoj and babli... aamir and shahrukh are generally enlightened people who married non-muslims.

Provide PROOF. :coffee:

Your OPINION is worthless.

the revolutions of jesus, muhammad and marx origined in their opinions too... however, in those days trolls like you wouldn't have dared spoken arrogantly with people like me on a world stage. :)

as for proof, proof for what??

many Boys ran away when they saw mangal soothra in the hands of bajrangdal activities, their valentine was left alone to fend for herself, many looking for lust and an opportunity to use the girls, valentines day is nothing but a dating day, the million doller question is why do they fear marriage? This shows that its only lust and no love.

.
No thanks. I intend to keep it the way nature made it. Not mutilate it in the name of a perverse god.

.
I guess you are very liberal like myself here but do consider others who might take offence of you calling Kama or Rati as perverse god.
and please, stay civil and don't go down the gutter route.
